Back In London

Christabelle had left Diagon Alley and began to walk through the streets of London. It had been a while since she had been in the city and it was refreshing because of the fact that it wasn't Beauxbatons or her home. It felt good to be back even if it was only for a short time. Now she had her job with the German Ministry and she had to take that very seriously. Sure she would get time off but she wasn't sure when that would be until she would start.

She made her way into a familiar little coffee shop and ordered herself something to drink and eat, sitting down and eating, she hadn't noticed how hungry she really had been. Since she had been gone she had easily dropped all the weight she had gained becoming once more pretty much a vegetarian.

Varod sighed as he sat on a bench, the rough would making him keep his hands on his lap.

It might have been a beautiful day, but his heart wasn't in it. The coffee shop he loved so much was across from him. So many fun times were in there...he had met with Christy there once, and that was also where he had met many friends...

A flash of blond hair in the crowd caught his eye. No, that was impossible. Was she really here?

He ran towards the coffee shop, shoving people out of his way and ignoring their angry protests.

"Christy!" he said happily, sitting down across from her. "Hey! It's been so long!"

She looked up almost spilling her coffee. Almost afraid to look since she had heard his voice. She had left and hadn't even said a word, nor had she said a word to him since she had left and now here he was in the coffee shop sitting down in front of her, smiling like nothing had ever changed...Except she had. She had grown up a lot in the last couple of months.

After getting over her initial shock she smiled weakly, "Hey." she replied looking at him. She wondered how he could still be acting like nothing was wrong between them. If he had put her in his position she would be out right angry at him. It was confusing to her.

"What's wrong?" Varod asked, eyes sad. "I didn't meant to make you mad or anything...do you uh do you want me to leave?"

His smile had quickly left his lips as he looked across at her. Slowly he stood up and ordered a coffee for himself before sitting back down and taking a quick sip.

"Sorry...didn't mean to be here when you were I just was..." Her face told him she wasn't exactly happy to see him.

Christy wasn't mad at him, no...She could never be mad at him. She hated herself really. She looked at him, "No..don't go." she said grabbing hold of his hand and looking him in the eyes. Her eyes were full of so much pain that it was almost unreal, and she really didn't look too terribly healthy either. Not that she wasn't taking care of herself. She was, she had just been through hell in the last few months.

"I just don't know how you could be happy to see me and not mad...not after how I left." she said looking at him. "And what I took with me."

Varod looked down at the ground.

"I'm just glad to see you...no matter what," he said holding her hand and looking up into her eyes. They were so beautiful, even so very sad... He stood up and pulled his chair around to her side of the table, the scraping noise hurting his ears slightly Not caring, he wrapped his arms around her tightly and kissed her lightly.

"Do you wanna tell me about it?" he asked quietly.

She looked at him kissing him weakly back. "You probably won't want anything to do with me after you hear it." she said looking at him. She didn't know how she could tell him she had been pregnant with his kid and then left without letting him know and now she wasn't. He knew though. She knew he had to know. He had been a vampire after she had found out herself and could probably feel the extra heartbeats that weren't there anymore.

She took a deep breath. "I went home to finish school and have a kid." she said looking at him.

"I can't hate you...wait you mean I'm a father?" Varod asked, something clicking. The absence of and extra heart beat, the change in her blood flow... It all made sense now. His vampire senses made it clear. "Or...is it not there?"

Another cold realization hit him.

"You lost it...your blood flow isn't the same as other previously pregnant women...Oh my god Christy..." he held her close..he wasn't letting go. "I love you..."

Those last words he knew were the absolute complete truth.

She looked at him, her heart dropping as he asked if he was a father and her expression changed and she looked like she was about to cry. She couldn't look him in the face as he spoke and tears slowly started to slip down her face as he held her tighter.

"How can you though if I left with something of yours and didn't come back with it?" she asked looking at him. It didn't make sense to her. She didn't know how she could comprehend how he would still love her. "Yes I lost it. About a month after I left. I was rearranging things in my room and it just happened."

Varod wiped her tears away and stood up.

"It's not your fault. Come on. I'll make it better, promise. Let me buy you something. I know you have money but I don't want you to do anything. Let's go, please? I'll get you anything at all."

Smiling down at her, he pulled at her.

"There's never been anything that will make me stop loving you with all my heart."

The nagging sensation of losing his child was ignored as he thought of her...
