Brian opened the door, caught a healer and asked for her to send Robert down straight away. The young healer-in-training scampered off to find Robert, and Brian closed the door. He replaced Abbey in her incubator, despite her protests. She had been perfectly comfortable being so close to someone else, and seemed to be enjoying the feel of Brian's heart beating against her. She protested a bit, wimpering, and he soothed her as he covered her with a little pink blanket until she slipped back off to sleep.
"I will keep you informed. You have my word. She's lucky to have so many people who love her. I'm sure, for her, it makes up a bit for what she isn't getting at home. She is a very loyal friend and values every one of them. I'm glad you're her friend too. If I have to hide them, I probably will need a hand anyway, so, yeah. I'll do my best to keep you in the loop."
Robert appeared a moment later, apparating in the room, fearful it was Khaat. When he saw Khaat and Abbey sleeping, he nearly frowned, and then he picked up on Steven's headache. "Mind if I take over?" he asked Steven, not really waiting for his answer. He laid a hand on either side of his head and examined Steven's head carefully. "No wonder you have headaches. You have some definite nerve damage where you were hit in the head, and when you get a headache, it is a nerve generated headache and the sensation of pain spreads a lot farther than where it really starts from. The nerve damage was there when we had you here months ago, but it has drastically degenerated, and that's what's causing you pain. We have to stop the damage and either deaden the nerves so you don't feel the pain, or see if we can regenerate them in a healthy way. Do you have a preference?"
He drew off the pain from Steven entirely so the headache was not there, so Steven could think more effectively.
