Brian wasn't comfortable being away from Khaat any longer, even if Steven was there. It wasn't that he didn't trust Steven. He did. He didn't trust the other nuts in the world. He'd become pessimistic about a lot of things a long time ago. And he knew Khaat's condition was not as good as he wanted it to be for a new mother. She was entirely too thin and weak. That was obviously why Robert had not even given her a choice about some of the ways Abbey was to be cared for. He had just made decisions for her based on Khaat's very fragile health.
Brian had seen Khaat thin before, but never, ever like this. Not even when Remus died. It made him want to send her ignorant husband through a wall to wake him up a little. As he came back into St. Mungos, showered and refreshed, he could smell the food cart bringing lunch around, and it smelled so foul to him, even with his strong stomach he knew Khaat wouldn't eat a bite of it. He slipped back out, and brought her a bowl of chicken soup from Sparks with a cup of their french roast, and a couple of croissants.
He went back up to her room and went in and shut the door, shutting out the foul food odors. "You might have to talk to the Director about that sort of smell up and down the halls," He laughed at her. "Hi, Steven. I'm glad she was in good hands while I was gone. Khaat, I couldn't stand that smell, so I popped down to Sparks and brought you a bowl of soup and a cup of coffee. By the way, Lizzie says hi and says she can't wait to see Abbey."
