Camping (Hunt For The Horcrux Continued)

Khaat dished herself up part of a bowl of soup and took one of the wonderful looking sandwiches that Mari had prepared. She poured herself a cup of hot coffee and sat down at the table, hoping some of the others would join her. She usually found that until someone had started serving themselves, no matter what the gathering, the food just sat uneaten while everybody stood around and smelled it. She smelled the rich aroma of the coffee, and it smelled heavenly to her. She saw the others working at either relaxing or trying to fool their companions into a false sense of security. She wasn't sure which. Either way, she wasn't going to let it get to her. She could play the game as well as the rest of them.

"Ne'Os," she said softly, "When did you feed last? And not this kind of food. You know what I mean." Khaat had brought a good many things in her Mary Poppins bag, but vials of blood were not among the tiny things in her bag. She had encountered two hungry vampires fairly recently and did not like the outcome either time. She didn't care for this happening again.
