Fire in the Classroom (Chase)

"You." he said softly, blushing.

Chase looked a bit startled for a second and then smiled at him. "Why are you blushing?"She asked smiling. "I am talking to you, it's common to think about the person you're talking about."She said sitting back on her heels. She smiled, she knew he was telling the truth now. The blush told it all. Smiling she looked back at the fire and then the window. She got up smoothly and walked to it. Her back to him now. Guys were sensitive when it came to blushing, and she had no doubt he would want the time to help tame it down. It had been a mighty blush.

"Not for me... usually I'm thinking about something else, only half engaged in the conversation." he said, blushing again. He was glad when she tended to the fire, which she was obviously only pretending to be interested. He put his head down to clear his head while she was looking the other way. He had his eyes on her in case she turned around, so he could pretend he hadn't put his head down...

Chase smiled and kept her back to him for a minute before turning around. "Why were you thinking of me then?"She asked conversationally. She put her hands behind her back and strode throughout the room. She was tempted to go over to him and just, touch his hand, or something. But instead she went behind him and played her hand over his back, her fingers touching it softly, running down his arm before she moved away. Now it was time to have fun. Poor guy must be about to have a heart attack. She did admit though, there was something about him that made her stomach start to flutter.

Sterling didn't notice as she strode over until she touched his back gently. Blasts and throbs of electricity shot through him... every nerve in his body seemed to be on alert. As she ran down his arm it twitched accidentally. Sterling tried to hide it but couldn't. He sat up and stared at her, transfixed. He stood from his desk and took a step toward her, his heart thumping uncontrollably.

Chase looked back at him when he stood up and stopped. His eyes were wide. "I'm sorry...did I scratch you or something?"She asked softly looking a little nervous. He had taken a step towards her and she wanted to see what he would do. She closed her mouth and watched him, her eyes on his.

Sterling's heart pounded. "No..." he said, searching for additional words, but none came. He stayed rooted to the spot, his jaw clenched. Wide dark gray eyes staring into her deep brown ones. He chanced sliding his back foot a little closer to his front one.

Chase smiled at him calmly. Hoping he'd do whatever he was thinking of doing. "It's ok to assert yourself every now and then you know."She said softly. "You know, do what you're thinking, give in to impulses."She said softly staring into his beautiful grey eyes.

Sterling stepped slowly into Chase placing one hand on her waste, and the other on her shoulder. He buried his face in her luxuriant hair, which smelled like rain. He let the hand on her shoulder slide down to the small of her back. Sterling allowed his face to retract, so his cheek slid comfortably against hers... it was unnaturally smooth. Part of him was screaming for him to do something else, while the rest was screaming for him to run away and never look back. Sterling froze, torn between the two. He was sure she could feel his heart pounding, attempting to escape from his ribs...

Chase gasped slightly when he came up to her and simply, held her. She closed her eyes, her cheek against his. His hand on her waist and on her back. Then her froze. She could feel his heart pounding hard. He seemed so scared. So she smiled and let her lips move to touch his cheek. She wondered how long he had been holding this back. The need to hold her. She felt the butterflies start up in her stomach. And it was odd, because they were the same type of butterflies she got when she got a new boyfriend. She ones that lasted until she found out he was a snob, and she dumped her for someone who was cuter then her. But for some reason she didn't think Sterling would be like that. She let her hands slide up to his shoulders and held him there gently.
