Fire in the Classroom (Chase)

When she asked when, he desperately wanted to say In five minutes, but didn't. He was about to say Tomorrow, but then stopped. If they disappeared every day like this somebody might get suspicious... Sterling out of the common room, not studying... Chase hiding away from her friends... "As soon as we can... but we can't be too obvious about it... tomorrow." he chanced. After all, it was only two days in a row... nothing suspicious. "In the Room of Requirements." he whispered. That way, nobody could get in while they were still in there.

Chase nodded once and kissed him again. "I'm sorry."She said softly. "In order to pretend like nothing is happening between us, I will be flirtatious, like always."She said looking up at him her eyes big and round. "Please don't get jealous."She said softly just before she kissed him again holding on tighter. Trying to put all of her sorrow, and happiness, that this kiss brought her. For it would be her last one for today. "I'll see you then."She said backing up slowly and looking at him as her arms came away from him.

These last few kisses were more than he could bare. He wanted to stay by her side as she walked away... when she released him he allowed his arms to slide gently off of her, lingering too long on her waist. When he finally let go of that, he felt a stab of physical pain. Disconnected, as though a part of him had been severed off. "You leave first... slip into your dorm and sleep like nothing happened." he said.

Chase nodded silently. She turned towards the door. But flew back, kissed him one last time. Long, and deep. And then spun away running out of the room leaving a last glimpse of her hair as it flipped around the corner, and a lasting scent of vanilla and fresh rain. Chase ran almost the entire way up to her dorm, landed in bed and cried herself to sleep.

Sterling sat at the desk, he head down. He tried to push Chase out of his thoughts... trying to recall test answers... thinking about books... but the lingering scent of vanilla and rain made it impossible. He sat completely motionless until the streaks at the bottom of the sky turned blue and the sky brightened. Once the stars were invisible, he swooped out of the common room, and sneaked out of the room. Nobody stirred when he entered the dormitory, accustomed to his late night turning in... hopefully they didn't realize it was only an hour before they awoke that he came after they woke... he couldn't bear for them to betray Chase like that. He laid sleeplessly, his expression blank, staring at the roof as he laid in his four poster bed.
