Sunbathing

Chase smiled slightly and nodded. She held out her hand for him to take. This was getting bad. They had gotten him to drink blood, and now he looked like he was ready to puke. She kept her hand out for him to help him up. It was sad that these people thought it was funny to make someone try and drink blood. It was nasty.

Sterling took Chase's hand gratefully, the warmth and comfort from it far overshadowing the repulsion he had just experienced it. As she hoisted him up he gazed intently into her eyes... their brown seeming to consume him from the inside.

Chase smiled and then turned back to the other two. "That wasn't very nice."She said frowning at them. She could imagine something like that happening from a Slytherin, but from a Hufflepuff was just crazy.

Sterling smiled reassuringly to her. "It's alright... I was the one who asked what it tastes like." he reminded her. The thunder rolled once again, and the lightning flashed brightly illuminating the scene momentarily. He pulled his cloak a little lighter around him and edged a step closer to Chase, who's body warmth seemed suddenly inviting.

Chase giggled slightly and then, tearing her hands away from Sterling she put them straight out and started to spin in a circle, her head thrown back. "I want to dance."She said all of a sudden. That's Chase for you, putting out a different topic simply because it was raining now. She smiled and looked down at Sterling a huge goofy grin on her face. She loved it when it rained, but she also loved the sun too.

Sterling stared at Chase as she spun around, dancing. His sister, Jessica, had taught him how to swing dance. He had the strange urge to follow Chase's precedent and break out in random spinning dance as well, but didn't. Instead he smiled and told her "I do too." with a smile. He didn't though--Sterling rarely acted on impulse.

Sterling welcomed the cold drops of rain of his face. His hair changed to black as it was soaked, the water streaming down his face. He gazed up into the heavens, the intricately silver clouds rolling soundlessly over, offering their moisture to Hogwarts.

Sterling's foot was sinking in the mud, but he payed no notice. He continued to sink and be trapped by the recently added mud. Inexplicably, the mud itself seemed beautiful. He gazed around at the lush green life around them and appreciated fully for the first time since he had gone to Hogwarts. Student were running, shielding the rain with their books. Sterling wondered why they abhorred the rain so, at the moment it seemed so... wonderful.

Chase laughed and looked at Sterling. He seemed in awe, like this was beautiful, the sinking mud, the laughing people. She smiled at him softly, not a big goofy smile, but a happy smile. "Dance with me Sterling."She said holding out her hand to him. She pulled her foot out a glob of mud and then laughed again. "Wow, this place gets muddy!"She said wishing she had put some shoes on. Oh well, the initial coldness she had felt was gone, but she was still shivering in the rain that poured down her unshielded stomach and arms. She looked around at the vampires and then back at Sterling. They weren't doing anything so she looked at the person who she thought might.

Sterling took the dance request and took her hand nervously. "What kind of dancing do you want to do?" he asked, trying to appear relaxed, yet his racing heart betrayed his true emotion. He was sure they cold hear it a mile away despite the rain.

The mud squelched as he surfaced his foot, now standing directly across from Chase. He glanced nervously at the vampires again, worried his throbbing heart would tempt them beyond restraint. He tried consciously to slow it down as not to tantalize them but wasn't sure how effective it was.

Chase giggled. "Just anything!"She said grabbing his other hand and starting to spin with him. Her feet slipping in the mud. "It's so much fun!"She said looking at him happily the rain falling down her face, her arms, her stomach, which she had mostly forgotten about by now, the fact that she was wearing a skirt, and a strapless belly shirt. She smiled and threw her head back, her soaked hair flinging water everywhere.

Sterling danced along with her, spinning her, doing flares... but it was odd how smoothly it came, the natural movement of it exhillerating him. He laughed audibly along with her. She splashed him with her hair, he welcomed the water even more than he did the purified heavenly drops falling from the sky. His feet continued to squelch in the mud as he spun around naturally.

The mud reached his ankles and the downpour worsened. He welcomed it warmly, and hardly seemed to notice his robes soaked beyond all recognition. Sterling sent Chase on an independent spin and stood there, watching her in ecstasy.
