Raporters and random acts

Ateven waved bye to andrew and john , John was staring his first term at Hogwarts and john had made sure both boys ahd all the needed including the magic quill for andrew , john had told andrew he could have it as he thught the wand was cooler. Now alone he turned to head back to the floo he ahd come threw to head home. But as he walked back he caught sight of a newspaper stand there in front sat a head line that caught his attenshion " Khaat Dent--Chief Warlock in ICU for undisclosed medical condition, head reports no details disclosed " he walked over and took a paper, reading what lay inside he gave a growl as he knew all about the person who wrote the artical his intergraty as a repoter some what questionable, paying for the paper he headed as quickly as he could to the hospital.

Walking in he looked at the main reception there gathered like vulchures was a group of news reporters, he managed to slip passed unnoticed , for who would suspect a texan in a large cowboy hat of anything but visiting. He moved quickly up to the lift pressing the button it quickly arrived and he stepped in noticing thet only one male reporter glancing at him.

once on the right floor he headed straight to Roberts office, knocking to see if he was in , getting know awnser he let himself in and sat down waiting for his return news paper now held in his hand.

Robert came back to his office for a few moment's peace. He had gone for what was beginning to seem like endless days without hardly 5 minutes of sleep. It was pulling on him now. He was tired. He was feeling it now. But he would not leave Khaat while she was in so many multiple dangers. Now he carried an extra large coffee cup bearing as much extra strong black espresso as the cup would hold.

The last thing he wanted to see was another person violating the privacy and sanctity of his private office, even if it was just Steven. It wasn't that Steven wasn't welcome. He was. Robert was just exhausted, flat out.

"Well," Robert sighed very heavily, standing, mainly because he feared he'd fall asleep if he sat down. He noticed the paper in Steven's hand. "So--you've been reading the rumor mill, then. I can see why it would concern you. Khaat is still holding her own. But yes, she is in Intensive Care. She took a couple downturns after having Abbey, and I had no choice. I needed better care for her. I had intended it would insulate her a bit, but I can see that it hasn't. By the way, Abbey's fine and is with Khaat. And Khaat is never alone. Brian and I are always with her. One or the other. Try not to believe everything you read, and so you know, this is just the start of it. It is going to get a lot worse before it gets better."

steven looked at Robert not realy seeing the man he had seen several days ago. He looked run down and beat "It won't stop others beliving this when they read this drivel " he threw the paper down on the desk as he stood to face him "I know Brian is a good man but he can't protect her all the time, sooner or later their going to get threw and then you have slander on your hands not just for Khaat but you too, you can't afford that " he now folded his arms across his chest "bring more in " he said "Andrew and John are at school now I am at a loose end I am gioving you my serveces to relive Brian so he can sleep, eat and sort out the organisation, if this reporter finds about Khaat he'll find out about that too at lest with two or three men on guard it increses the odds of him being dicovered before anything can happen" he said speaking franlky with him.

"He already knows. I just muscled him out of Khaat's room. This is just the beginning, Steven," Robert said. "Khaat looks like hell. She looks like a living skeleton. He's having a field day with it. And that's not the worst that will happen. Rob and Jen have made some very serious mistakes and will be going to Azkaban any time now.

"Once he goes to the Ministry's records departments and finds the newest paperwork I have filed for Khaat, it will blow wide open. I have filed to be in charge of all Khaats affairs due to her illness. Second, I had her legally separated from Rob. Third, I secured all Rob's british wizarding financial accounts and had them transferred to Khaat and Abbey in a trust that I alone have control of, at least while she's ill. Fourth, I had sole custody of Abbey given to Khaat, with Katherine and I having temporary guardianship while she is so sick. Fifth, I have stripped the Dent family of any chance of visiting Abbey unsupervised. And lastly, I changed Khaat's and Abbey's names back to Lupin. Once they get ahold of all of that, plus Jen and Rob's arrests, Khaat has no choice but to go into hiding. At least for awhile. This reporter is Rita Skeeter's grandson and is more tenacious than even she was. This is not going to be easy.

"I am thinking of breaking up Khaat's bodyguarding care into 3 shifts. I was considering you and another friend of hers to rotate those shifts with Brian. What do you think?"

Steven stood listening as he spoke about what he had done "sounds like you've daone all that you can but can this other man be trully trusted ?" he asked his fac as grim as he could be he did not want just anybody coming in Khaat was for all intense perposes his little sister and nobody tangled with his family " I mean with everything going on will he understand just how improtant keeping her and abby safe are " his muscles flexed as he spoke showing that he was ready for busness and would take no rookies with this job It called for a dedicarted experianced man, not boys.

"Yes. You'd like him. He's a very experienced auror like yourself. And he and his wife are friends of Khaat's." He went over to the floo and called for Jack to come through. He hoped Jack wasn't too busy to help with Khaat. Khaat needed friends around her right now.

"You realize I will have to move Khaat into hiding, perhaps at an instant's notice. I want to discuss that with you and Brian and Jack. I will be relying on you for her safety. You know as well as I do that for right now, I have no choice. It is going to get very, very ugly."

Jack had been finisheing up the dishes when he heard Robert call "well wonder what he needs ?" he said shouting up to Jessica he told ehr Robert had called for him and he'd be back as quick as he could , she had shouted down for him to just go and she would see him when he got back. chuckling he headed for the floo and stepped in.

Imediatly reapearing in Roberts office "Robert long time no hear how you doing and Kate ?" he asked shaking Roberts hand it was then he sa a second man in the room "whos he and what do you need me for, muct be very important to called me away from my family?" he stood facing the man expecting him to be the reason Robert had called him.

"It is, Jack. It is,' Robert said. "I want you to meet Steven Walker, another good friend of Khaat's and an auror. Sit down. Let me explain this all."

He proceeded to tell Jack and Steven all he knew. All of it, and why Khaat and Abbey were in so much danger right now, not only from the press, but from Rob's enemies. He explained he had a bodyguard with her but he was foreseeing the assignment going on much longer now, and that Brian would need help. He could not expect Brian to guard her 24/7 and keep on his toes. This was going to be long and very ugly. He knew how to hide her, but she couldn't hide forever, and right now, he was having trouble just keeping the reporters out of her ICU room.

He asked them both, frankly, if they would work for him as bodyguards for her and divide the work into 3 shifts so she was never without security--well, khaat and abbey both.

Jack listened as Robert spoke his mind made before the last setance was said. Besides Jessica wuld kill him for turning him down and that was something he could not do, he'd rather put up the reporters than her angry at him. "sounds like you've all had it rought " he said looking from Steven to Robert and back "don't worry Steven I know wwhats going threw your mind I was once and auror too and know the drill Im not rusty Khaat saw to that with ehr training , god that duck incadent was embarasing but I will do anything for her and abby ,Robert may I see abby Jessica will flip, in a good way, when she hears Khaat had her daughter and she wasn't told " he asked him.

steven looked at this new man Jack he was not impressed at first but got a sence that he was a man or worth he would see a job threw to teh end even if it ment his end , he also sences his wife was too , made him thing about janet again but he focused on the job and listened "Robert you already know where I stand with this, if jacks on board then so am I " he gave Jack a nod and saw him nod back , he raised an eyebrown as Jack said he use to be an auror too he woindered why he'd left but that he could ask another time.
