Care of Magical Creatures: Basic & NEWT Class 002

He'd been trying to ignore the fussing coming from the girls near the back of the group and continue with the class as if nothing was happening. But they were starting to distract the other students and that was something he wouldn't stand for. "You three. I want you up here now, and and to shut it." he said harshly. "Do not make me take points away from your houses as I'm sure your classmates would not like that." he said. He sighed and continued.

As he resumed the class, two of the three girls raised their hands and have him answers that satisfied him. "Good." he commented. "Five points to Hufflepuff and five points to Slytherin." He added. He had to credit them for being the first ones to answer and for giving him correct answers. He just hoped they didn't make him take those points and possibly more away from their houses.

"Now, who can tell me where these creatures usually dwell?" he asked the class as a whole. He knew someone knew this answer, but he wondered if they would speak up. It was a simply question that anyone could answer easily. Unless they didn't care about the class what so ever. But if they were all there it was because they liked the class to some extent.

Juliet looked down during the whole class, eyes still in her eyes as she thought about her father. She raised her hand and glanced around quickly. "May I please go to..." She looked down, she wasn't sure exactly where to go. She was sick of Kasumi and Yumi. She didn't want to be there anymore.."Can I please just leave?" She said looking around, now letting the tears fall over her waterline. "I'll serve a detention...I just...I need to leave.." She said looking directly at the teacher. "Please..." She said more quietly.

He sighed as he saw a hand go up in the air and hears the worse that followed. "I'm sorry Ms. Valentine. I cannot allow you to leave alone from here. This part of the Forest is dangerous for students like you if you are alone here." he told her. "You'll just have to wait, class is almost over." he added. Had they been anywhere else he would have let her go, but he knew everything rhat want on in the forest, having been there on many occasion, and he knew for a fact that it was way to dangerous for someone to wander off alone.

Jake turned his attention back to the class. No one had answered his question so he assumed they didn't know the answer. "For those of you that do not know this, the unicorn usually dwells in the forests of Southern Europe, which is why they live here in the Forbidden Forest." he explained to the class. There really wasn't much more to explain about unicorns really. But he thought of one last thing to ask. "Can anyone tell me the nature of these creatures?" he asked.

"Anyone who answers can come up here and pet/ interact with these creatures before class ends." he told them all.

Juliet nodded slowly, and looked down at her feet. She loved this class, but it was starting to take a toll on her health. She sniffled and rubbed her eyes. She wasn't sure what to do and just tuned back into the teacher, who was talking about unicorns now. She loved the creatures, but nobody not even her best friend, Dani knew about her secret about liking the magical creatures. She sighed softly and watched the other students answering questions and talking to the teacher. Juliet raised her hand slowly, not sure why the teacher was being so...stingy with her. "Unicorns prefer a woman's touch, but the young are more trusting and do not mind men as much. Unicorns are also so fleet-of-hoof that they can rarely be caught by humans." She said slowly, not aware if her answer was correct or not.

"Right, very good Ms. Valentine." he said with an approving smile. "Unicorns prefer the touch of women to men because they are usually more gentle than men are. The fouls don't mind men because they are more open to others touch more that the adults." he told them. "Five points to Slytherin." he added, glancing at Juliet.

"Now, Ms. Valentine. Since you were the first to answer you may come up here and pet the unicorn." he said to her. His grip loosened on the reigns and the unicorn took a step forward toward the Slytherin girl. It shook its head at her, and it stared at the girl with its bright blue eyes.

He knew the class was about to end, so not many of the students would be able to do this with the unicorn. "You'd better hurry, Ms. Valentine." he told her. "Oh and before I forget, you all have homework this time." he told them all. "You are all to write a paragraph summarizing anything and all that you learned during today's class." he explained.

Juliet stepped forward to touch the unicorn, her hand trembling slightly as she touched its head. Her eyes brightened as she smiled large at it. She had only touched a unicorn one other time and she was with her parents then, she hadn't even known it was a unicorn. Juliet hand stroked the creature, her eyes bright with amazement as she stepped back to let the other students have a turn. She listened closely to the teacher's words, knowing she had to do her homework. She didn't want anymore house points taken away. Juliet swayed back and forth on the balls of her feet, feeling more and more dizzy as time passed. Her legs gave out as she collapsed onto the forest floor.

The class had started fine, then there was some disturbance and now this. He just been about to say something to her and then suddenly he was watching the Slytherin girl collapse onto the ground. His first reaction was to check her to see what was wrong with her. Kneeling on the ground next to her, Jake checked to make sure she was still alive and he sighed in relief when he knew she was, in fact, alive.

He got back up to his feet and sighed. "That's it. Class dismissed." he told them. "Be careful on your way out of the Forest and remember to do your assignment." he called after them. "Except for you two." he indicated to Kasumi and Danielle. "Don't think that because she's collapsed, you are off the hook." he told the two girls. "We have to get her to the hospital wing now. Even if it was nothing bad that happened, she has to be checked out by the school nurse, to make sure she will be okay." he said in a somewhat stern voice.

Kasumi was sitting on the ground when Juliet answered the question. She wasn't watching Juliet go up to the unicorn, she was playing with the tips of her hair. Kasumi was was having a blast with her hair when all of a sudden the ground moves a bit. She dropped her hair and saw that Juliet had fallen onto the ground. Kasumi didn't do anything because she was already in a deep hole and she didn't want to dig herself deeper. She just sat there until the Professor spoke.

Kasumi honestly couldn't believe what had just happened. She had a few questions going on in her head like 'why did she collapse after touching such a delecate creature? Is she going to be okay?' Kasumi had these serious thoughts going on in her head. When she Professor said she was okay, Kasumi wasn't really sure what to do.

The Professor told the class that it was dismissed. Kasumi was just about to get up when the Professor told her and Dani to stay. Her heart started pounding in her chest thinking she was going to get a detention and ruin her reputation of being a good student. Kasumi played with her thumbs trying not to freak out. Her dad would be really dissapointed if he ever found out Kasumi was in trouble. She has never been in trouble once and she didn't want to start now.

Kasumi started to hum to herself and she started to day dream about her day. She couldn't believe what was happening. A small tear shed from her eye and she just sat on the ground like a lump on a log. She took out her water and took three big gulps, which sort of hurt her throat. She started to cough and layed on the grass. Kasumi continued to think and started to cry just a bit. It was a silent cry, so noone heard her.

The Professor told Kasumi and Dani to follow while he brought Juliet to the hospital wing, so she did. Her heart was beating hard out of her chest and she had no idea what was in store for her. Kasumi was just hoping all this would end right here and now. She kept swallowing her spit and after a while she ran out. She put a piece of gum into her mouth and chewed it for a while. Usually, when she chews something, it gets her mind off the negative stuff. She sat outside of the hospital wing waiting for the Professor to come down hard on her.
