Robert laughed. He liked Rob. Khaat really had chosen well. Robert saw that Rob was going to stick like glue to her, which was what they both needed. And the proof of it really was, not to bend a phrase, in the vials. They had bonded. Something so rare it wasn't talked about much anymore. And it was nigh onto impossible to undo once done. In fact the counterspells and potions for it were in the hands of only the Master Healers themselves. Plus that, Khaat had a couple of other flaws he didn't like, besides the Remus Warrrior curse. She also saw life as cheap and easy to throw away--especially when it came to talking about her own. Plus that, she took life much too seriously--except when she had Rob. He brought light and laughter and beauty to her world again. Something Dolohov took from her when he killed Remus in the 1990's. Thirty years. Thirty years she had lived with that pain. And nothing anyone could do could take it from her. However--Rob had showed her how to live again, and for that, Robert would be eternally grateful. He was about to speak to the young man when he heard first one sound from the nursery. Music boxes and clumpity-thumpity sounds. The second came from Khaat's own room. He head turned sharply towards Khaat's room, frowning deeply. He sighed heavily. "Well," he said, deeply frustrated, "The first sound is baby magic your daughter is causing in your nursery." Robert stepped over to the nursery door where toys were beginning to dance and play to the sound of the music box Khaat had placed there. And the dragonflies, butterflies and ladybugs flitted through the air. "Your daughter is having just a bit of a reaction to the potion herself, but at least she seems to be enjoying it. I presume you can take 'em." He looked at Rob, just a hint of the boy within himself, a bit of a boyish grin on his usually serious face. But it vanished as came, "The second sound you heard is the one I need to deal with. That, my boy, is the sound of your very stubborn wife going through a bit of a power surge because of this withdrawal. She has just managed to fight off one of my most powerful sleep spells." He turned to go back to the bedroom.
