Khaat was in her room. Her mother brought in to her the dress of her dreams. It was a slim cut, sheath style dress. It was sleeveless, with a sweetheart neckline and a scoop back. It had layers of beautiful white silk and the silk was both embroidered and had lace and sequins, all done very tastefully. Every movement brought a flicker of light. It had a small conservative train. She chose no veil. She had little silk shoes that reminded her of what Cinderella might have worn at some point. They were white silk, with nice tall heels, and were embroidered and had sequins that matched the dress.
Her mother had with her a large wooden box, and she opened it once Khaat was dressed. It had in it a tiara that was made of white gold and diamonds. It had at the center on the front a large heart shapped blue sapphire. "You remember how it goes, Khaat?" Katherine asked. "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? Well, here is the old and the blue combined. This was handed down from the last 7 generations of women in my family. Well, you're the 7th. As far as the new, your father and I bought you these." She gave her a pair of beautiful diamond earrings. Large heartshaped diamond earrings. Heartshapped studs surrounded by a row of diamonds all the way around to give them more size. She knew they were very expensive. "Mom!" she gasped. "They're beautiful! Thank you!" "Your father and I bought them when you got pregnant. We saw this wedding coming, so we bought them," Katherine said. "Now, as for the something borrowed, I'd be honored, if you borrowed these." She opened another box to show a pair of diamond hair combs. She took the chopsticks that had been in her hair for the red dress she had started out with and restyled her hair in an updo held by the beautiful diamond hair combs. The hairstyle was soft and romantic. Her mother helped her with her makeup and a hint of lily scented perfume. Khaat looked in the mirror and could not recognize the face. This was a fairy princess. Not Khaat at all. Her mother stood behind her and there were tears welling up in her eyes. "You will always be our princess, Baby," she said softly."And you are so very, very beautiful. I have never ever seen you look more lovely in my whole life."
