Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Basic Class 1 - Page 5 Empty Re: Basic Class 1

Ace flipped his coin into the air again, somewhat bored. Knut to Silver? It seemed rather basic for him. This time, James caught the coin between his two hands, feeling the energy flowing around the knut. When he let the coin fall onto the desk, it was pure silver once again. James finally settled to annotating his DADA book once again. It was better than doing nothing, right?

Then he noticed how much trouble others were having. James turned to the student that had succeeded in transforming his own coin. Bane, the Gryffindor.

"Wake, if your are bored, why don't you try doing something constructive?" Vincent said calmly. "Like helping the other students? Besides, class is almost over." It seemed most of the class had got the art of transmutation anyways. It was all very basic, but these were basic class students after all!

"Sir, I believe that there is a logical disconnect between what you requested and what these students are trying to accomplish." He proceeded to say, loud enough for the rest of the class to hear, "The most efficient way to convert bronze into silver is to focus on the essence of each material. Right down to the atomic level. Once you reach that level, all the knut needs is a little push to turn into silver. Sir."

Basic Class 1 - Page 5 Empty Re: Basic Class 1

Post by Keith Nicholas Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:00 am

Keith listened to what James had to say and stared at his little coin. Then he sighed, picked it up, calmed his mind, and focused again.

When he had gone to muggle school, he had been told that everything was made up of tiny little particles called atoms. And that atoms that were like each other combined to make different things. So basically, what James was saying was that he needed to focus on a few atoms at a time, and shift them from bronze to silver. Instead of focusing on one big thing, he needed to focus on several small things...

Keith closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and concentrated on the coin again. In his mind, the knut was a big black circle filled with tiny bronze colored dots. He selected a clump of the dots and focused on turning them to silver. And slowly but surely, they began to change. The next clump of dots was easier than the first, and the third easier than the second. Finally exhaling, he glanced down at the coin in his hand.

It was sliver.

Well, silver...ish anyway. Random clumps of the coin were silver, and the rest bronze, but it was a definite improvement. "Uh, professor?" He asked, raising his hand. "James is kinda...right, I guess. It worked for me."

ESSENCE, that was the word Vincent had been looking for. He guessed teaching didn't really agree with him that much, he always had a problem with words. But anyways, he was glad that James had explained it. "Well explained Wake," Vincent said, nodding. "5 points to Ravenclaw."

Other students were definately improving now, Keith seemed to have finally got it, sort of. "Good job Mr.Nicholas, 10 points to Ravenclaw," he awarded. The coin was silver after all, even if only slightly silver.

"Well now that the majority of you have understood how to transform an object into gold, we will round off the lesson.

Alchemists must understand that every object has been created by the same hand. And so, we can change the objects into their different forms in a single second. With practice, and with understanding, you will be able to master transmutation.

I think overall, you did a rather good job today for a basic class, almost all of you got the knut to slighty resemble solid silver, though you weren't completely successful, that is to be expected. Next lesson is far more important, it is spiritual alchemy. I will explain today's homework later today.

Class Dismissed"

----------------------------------------------------

TOTAL POINTS:

Hufflepuff: 40 points
Slytherin: 15 points
Gryffindor: 25 points
Ravenclaw: 40 points

I will post your class grades right now, though your overall will of course depend on the homework.
