Luckily enough, there were just a few sheets of her favorite colored paper left in the bedside drawer. Vitani also pocketed a few pieces of her favorite chocolate she had bought in the summer. That June, Vitani and her mother had visited relatives in Italy, and with Italy came all the finest indulgences she had ever known. Light, sweet, and instantly became moist in the mouth - it was literally heaven in gold-tinted foil. Only a small amount had remained through the school year snacking, but she hardly ever ate more than a few pieces at a time. It was sort of a pick-me-up, and although she had no reason to be sad and wasn't, she always enjoyed it dulcet flavors.
Back down at the table, she binned the note to Paul and decided instead to do some doodles. Doodling was fairly difficult with ink - more so with a quill pen. The paper scratched under the tip and the ink bled too heavily. She sighed and put down the pen out of frustration. She instead looked out the window, whose panes were slightly peppered with fresh rainfall. Maybe the dawn would prove to be without rain; she longed to once more see the sun rise from the roof of the castle.
Just then, a voice called to Vitani's attention. She jumped slightly in her seat, as her mind became astray with thought of blue-and-orange skies and the crisp air on her face, and turned to the boy who had greeted her.
"Oh..." she said and rubbed her brow with her hand, " 'Ello. You scared me."
Now in the presence of another, V straightened up in her chair and pushed the inked paper aside.
