Elliot was not sure the others were understanding his doubts, and if they were, they were refusing to address them. What he wanted to know was why did they think that Hogwarts was in such danger? Why did they assume the students needed immediate rescue? He sighed and said in a strained voice, "I fail to see cause for immediate action." What else could he see. Oh, this. "Has anyone made any attempts to stay in contact with Potter's Army?"
He doubted it. He thought of his cousin, meeting with the other students and practicing spells, wondering what the big picture plan was. It must seem a lot like a study group rather than an alliance of students. He imagined it must be frustrating. He knew, via letters, the tournament was already wearing on her, particularly the political aspects like the Yule Ball. Suddenly... he realized. In a quiet, thoughtful voice he said, "What if we did it immediately after the Yule Ball?"
It made sense. They were all invited. Their presence would not go unknown. They could spread word to Potter's Army easily, let them know to get people out, tell them to plant rumors about parties in the common room. Then spread out and go.
