Michael stopped dead in his tracks for a moment, looking at the young man, who, right now, despite the stealth and the danger, had the eyes of a small boy who was desperate for news of his father. Michael looked at Hiss. "I buggered that, didn't I, Hiss?" he asked. The end of the rope nodded at him and then pointed sharply at Rob. Michael understood. Rob deserved to know.
"Your father is a friend of mine, Rob. Well, of ours. He was part of the mates I had at Hogwarts. He told me of your time in Azkaban when I saw him last. I am sorry. He...has..or rather, had...his reasons for not wanting you to know what became of him. I was sworn from the time he disappeared never to reveal what became of him. We all were. I will tell you everything. I promise," he said very gently. "Rob, I know you have a million questions. And rightfully so, but right now, your wife is in mortal danger. Shall we go get her, then?" His voice was very gentle. Rob had never known, but Michael had known most of what had happened in the lives of the Dent children directly because of Joe Dent. Well, there was more than that for them to know when they were ready.
Michael picked up his pack, now that Hiss had resettled into it. He opened the hatch to the elevator that waited in the cellar, and dropped down into the elevator car. He flicked his wand to open the doors and was surprised to see Jen dropping out of the airshaft and making her way towards them down the hallway. He snapped his fingers once, and the muggle surveilance cameras disconnected themselves.
"We have 30 seconds, max, Boys and Girls," he said. "Let's move. FInd her--Now!"
