Khaat felt Brian tense up at Jack's resistance to his orders. Brian was a man of purpose. He always had a reason for everything he did, and the fact that Jack had defied him openly in front of Robert didn't sit at all well with Brian, and Khaat knew it. Brian didn't show it outwardly whatsoever, but Khaat knew him much too well, and she just sensed it within him.
Robert thought for a moment before he spoke. He knew Brian as if he was his own son. Did he support Jack and undermine Brian's authority? He turned to Brian. "You're the boss, Brian. Its your call," he said quietly.
Brian sighed heavily and kissed Khaat's forehead before he answered. He really just wanted Jack to do as he was told. "Very well," he relented. "Come with us." He had an iron grip on his wand.
"I'll go along, Brian," Robert said, sensing Brian's fear of anything more happening to Khaat, and how they knew how very fragile she was right now.
"Thank you," Brian said quietly.
"It'll be alright," he laid his hand on Brian's shoulder. He could tell he needed to restore some lost confidence to his young leader. "Let's go then. Coming, Jack?" He apparated Brian and Khaat away, taking them home.
