Fight them!? How on earth could anyone think that fighting a group of giants would end well? Nerissa certainly knew she and Nick Potter would probably end up dead if they even moved too fast around the things, let alone casted a spell at one of them, and yet, she pondered for a moment, wondering if perhaps doing such a thing would help her get over the constant paranoia and fear she had been suffering from ever since that evening in Knockturn Alley. She looked down at her wand which she was holding in trembling fingers, and then slowly lifted her eyes to glance in the direction of the beasts who were standing not too far from where they were, ripping large plants out of the ground as if to entertain themselves.

Why would Nick go and ask such a question? Such a question made Nerissa think, and thinking wasn’t a good thing for Nerissa at the point she was at then. She bit down on her bottom lip and raised her wand slowly, trying to get her fingers to stop trembling. She could taste a small drop of blood on her lip after biting down on it so hard, but it didn’t hurt right away, and it had seemed to work, because her hands had stopped shaking and she was able to hold her wand steadily once again.

It was Nick’s fault she said “Lets hope we both paid enough attention during both D.A.D.A and C.o.M.C,” truly it was for he had been the one to suggest staying there and fighting off the monstrous creatures. One of the giants heard Nerissa’s voice even though she had tried her harder to keep it quiet, and dropped the plant he had been holding in his hands to step forward slowly. Step. Step. Step- whith each step he took the ground shook beneath them, almost causing Nerissa to fall flat on her back. Step. Step. The thing’s pace had quickened, and he was headed straight for them- not only that, but it seemed the nearing giant had alerted the rest of his group of their presence as well.

Nick couldent belive the giants were charging them so he pulled out his wand and pointed it at one of the Giants. "Lets hope you paid attention in C.O.M.C. I didnt take that class" Nick told her as the giants got closer and Closer. When they stopped they were five feet away from them."Here goes nothing" Nick said to her. "Alarte Ascendare" Nick casted at the giant the spell hit the giant but only its arm went up.So much for that" Nick thought to himself as the other giants came to them and stopped where the other one stopped.

"Aresto Momentum" Nick casted hoping it whould slow down the giants. The spell missed "any ideas" Nick asked Nerissa quietly. The giant tripped Nick and he fell back words and it his head off a tree.

[ Great post, Nick! Keep it up! ]

Nerissa watched in horror as the spells Nick casted had little to no effect on the giants and could feel her mind freezing over and her heart beating so quickly that she swore it was going to break her ribcage to pieces. She raised her wand and tried to get her mind to WORK for once while she was in a stressful situation, but the only spell that would come to mind was useless- she spoke the incantation and flicked her wand anyway, “Arania Exumai”. Why on earth did a spider killing curse have to be the only spell that came to mind!? Nerissa looked over at Nick- only to watch with wide eyes as the closest giant knocked Nick backwards into a tree, causing his head to collide with it. She covered her mouth in shock; sure she wasn’t very fond of the boy and she did had hallucinations about seeing him injured, but she didn’t want him killed. (lol)

The young redhead backed up slowly when she realized that she was the only one facing the giants at the moment. Run. Run as fast as your feet will carry you and we’ll tell someone else to come back at get Nick, Nerissa’s thoughts ordered her, but she only considered it for a second, No, I’ve already made up my mind, this might help me get over it. Nerissa felt her back touch a tree and she realized that she couldn’t back up an further to escape the nearing creature. Her lips quivered, and her words were shaky when she spoke, but it was a miracle she had even managed to speak when shaking so violently, “Please go away,” she begged the giant. Oh yeah, wow, what a brilliant plan.

The giant extended its arm slowly towards Nerissa, but being cornered, she had no way of escaping his huge fingers as he curled them around her midsection and pulled her rapidly into the air. “Let me go!” she whimpered, squirming and kicking as much as she could. She still had her wand in her hand, but her arms were pinned to her sides and it was rather hard for her to aim her wand at the beast. She looked down and saw that if she moved only a inch closer to the thing that she could point her wand directly at his foot. But what spell would she use? She didn’t know and she didn’t care, she just wanted the thing to put her down, and so she opened her mouth and shouted the first spell that popped up in her head, “Diminuendo!”

She had gotten lucky.

A bright spark of color erupted from the tip of her wand, and having aimed for the beast’s foot, almost instantly after speaking the incantation his foot began to shrink rapidly. The creature looked down at his foot, clearly shocked and confused, and started to shake his leg about in an attempt to stop what was going on. This caused him to fall over onto his side slowly like a falling tree- which just so happened to be one of the most terrifying experiences Nerissa had ever lived through. The giant’s body collided with the ground and the world shook, Nerissa was sure of it. Her brain rattled in her head and she could feel herself becoming dizzy; it had been too fast of a fall and the impact had been too much for her- but he had released her from his grip when he had fallen, and that was her chance to escape his hand.

Nerissa climbed out of his palm and quickly ran over to Nick as fast as possible, stumbling every other step because of the dizziness she was experiencing, “Nick, come on get up,” she hissed as she crouched down next to Nick, “I need your help!” she added, hoping that this would get him to stand.

[Thanks Smile]

Nick had heard a voice, a girl's voice a second later he knew it was Nerissa's. He oppend his eyes and realised what what going on. Nick got up and said "Thanks for not leaving me" Nick thanked her pointing his wand at the other giants. "Hold your ears" Nick told her quietly. "Caterwaul" Nick cast as he loud high pitched shreik came out of his wand. After the Giants heard that noise they left. "Boy that was loud" Nick said to Nerissa.

"Well the giants went that way" Nick told her Pointing to the north. "So witch way do you want to go? On the trail behind us or we can make our own trail, Or we can go the way the giants went witch I dont reccomend." Nick asked her picking up a plant that one of the giants crushed. "Hmm I have never see this plant before" Nick said to Nerissa showing it to her.

Lost in the forest of dean again - Page 2 Empty Re: Lost in the forest of dean again

The young redheaded female was relieved when Nick stood up and spoke once more; she had been frightened that perhaps she would have to find her way out of the Forest of Dean completely alone and would then have to bring the news that Nick Potter was dead, to the people who had cared about him. She exhaled shakily and straightened, standing by the boy’s side. “Wha- cover my ears?” but she did as he advised anyway, slapping her palms over both of her ears and pressing them hard against her skull in order to avoid being injuring by whatever Nick had planned to do next- and she was glad that she had listened. The spell that he used was so deafeningly loud that she could hear the noise even with her hands over her ears.

Nerissa winced, slowly dropping her arms at her sides once more; her ears were ringing. She couldn’t imagine how loud it must have sounded to Nick, for he hadn’t done anything to protect his ears at all. She massaged the area around her ears tenderly, “It sure was. I definitely don’t remember learning that in charms,” she replied, assuming that it had, in fact, been a charm that he had used.

She looked around the area; the giants had left and they were alone, lost in the forest again. The girl was quiet for a moment, listening to the sound of creatures off in the distance moving around in the tall grass and braking twigs beneath their… feet? Or was it paws? Or hooves? You could never really tell in such a strange place. “Well, which way did you come from? Because I honestly can’t remember what path I took,” Nerissa replied, noticing that there were, In fact, several different trails leading in different directions.

At the mention of a strange plant, Nerissa turned her head so that she was looking at Nick once more and almost gasped when she saw the crushed plant in Nick’s palms. She gently and cautiously moved the poor thing from his hands to hers and brought it close to her face, examining it quickly, “Mallowsweet…” she whispered sadly, brushing one of the plant’s small leaves with her fingertip lovingly, “It’s a plant that centaurs burn- those brutes- and as if that wasn’t enough now giants have to go and throw them about,” Nerissa continued. It was clear in her eyes that she cared for the dead plant in her hands more than anything else at that moment. She sat down slowly, “Just a moment, Nick,” she told him quietly; she wanted to try and help the plant. She had seen enough plants die and wouldn’t be able to stand it if this one did too.

“Hang in there buddy,” she whispered to the plant and dug into the dirt that made up the ground with her fingernails, making large enough hole there for the bottom half of the plant to fit in. Slowly, she placed the plant inside the dirt and patted around it so that only its top was sticking out, as it had been before the giants had uprooted it.

"Well neither did I, I learned it out of a book in the libary called: 5 Million charms that they wont teach you in hogwarts" Nick told her quietly. He could hardly hear a thing the sound was deafing. Nick groand "Ugh that was loud" Nick said to her rubbing his ears. "Well what ever gets us out of a giant fight" Nick told her smiling it was the first time he smiled in ages.
"What trail did I take" Nick asked him self in his head.

"Well Nerissa I don't remember the trail I took" Nick told her wonder how she whould react. "Hold on" Nick told her as he casted a spell on himself. "Ascendio" Is what he casted he casted it five times so he could see goodly. "All there are, are trees for miles in every direction" Nick told her in a worried voice. "Nick suck it up this is no time to be worried" A voice told him inside his head.

"Mallow sweet huh Its a terrible thing that happens to plants" Nick told her quietly. Inside Nick he felt that he truly did like plants like she did. Nick knew most people called Nerissa wierd because she liked plants but Nick felt that he loved plants also. "Herbivicus" Nick cast on the tiny plant known as Mallowsweet as the spell came out of his wand the plant grew and looked perfectly healthy Nick smiled that made him happy. "I was hoping it whould work" Nick told Nerissa quietly.

Nerissa’s eyes had been dead since her encounter with Ne’Os and hadn’t shown any emotion in them in months- but when Nick spoke an incantation Nerissa had never heard in her life and the dead plant before her grew rapidly, standing tall and strong, Nerissa’s eyes were dead no longer, no, in fact, they lit up with a mixture of joy and relief. The redhead felt the plant’s stem with her fingers as if to prove to herself that it had actually thickened and that the plant was once again healthy- she just couldn’t believe her eyes.

“Nick! You- oh goodness- the poor thing, he’s alive!” Nerissa exclaimed, covering her mouth with her hands in shock, laughs escaping her lips and sneaking into her words when she spoke. She felt like a muggle child who had been shown a magic trick; completely amazed by what she had seen and so excited to learn how to do said trick herself that she couldn’t contain it.

Nerissa Hatts hadn’t been very fond of Nick Potter; she had seen a darkness in his eyes before, a darkness that now made her feel on-edge when she was near him, as if he could attack at any moment- but after watching that same boy miraculously bring something she cared about that had died, back to life, it swept those suspicious thoughts out of her mind almost entirely. Nerissa looked up from the plant in front of her to grin at Nick- a real grin, one that her lips had refused to form before that moment- and laughed once more, “Merlin… you did it, Nick!”

Nick felt happy for a long time it had been in his life he was happy. Nick didnt know Nerissa real well but he did know that she loved plants Nick also liked to see people happy so it worked out for him."Hold on a minute" Nick told her as he went to a deeper trail that he had made he was gone for five minutes but came back. When Nick came back he was holding a water bottle and then he took a stick of a tree, A sharp stick. Nick cut the bottle in half piled up some durt in it and took the plant from Nerissa and stuck its roots in the durt.

Nick handed Nerissa the plant and smiled. When Nick did that he felt like a youg four year old boy giving his mom a Plate with glued on pieces of Macroni. "I figured you whould take good care of it" Nick told her then he heard a scream and horse tracks. "Did you hear that It sounds like a centuar their hearing is better than a giant we can't let it get the Mallowsweet" Nick told her as the tracks got closer to them.

She took the bottle with the plant inside of it from Nick gently, holding it in her hands as carefully as she would a child, her eyes continuing to twinkle as she looked at the plant, which meant more than anything else in the world to her at that moment. “I will… I will take good care of it, I promise,” Nerissa whispered softly, looking up from the plant for a moment to smile at Nick once more. Where had that evil about him gone? Sure, Nerissa didn’t miss it, but she could have sworn that Nick had been a completely different person before they had run into each other in the forest.

Nerissa slowly got to her feet, clutching the plant and its new home to her chest, “Centaurs… Nick, I’ve had enough adventure for one evening, could you lead the way out of here please?” she asked, biting into her bottom lip nervously as the sound of hooves digging into the dirt as the animals neared, got louder. Her heart was still beating rapidly beneath her ribcage after their encounter with the giants, she didn’t want to fight any more creatures. Or, at least not for a very, very long while. After all, Nerissa had never really been a big fan of being in life-threatening situations.

She lifted her wand slowly and flicked it, speaking an incantation she knew well in order to light the tip of it; it was dark in the forest, and tripping over a rock and breaking her ankle when they were lost with the creatures of the night, didn’t sound like much fun at all. Nerissa stepped forward so that she was standing beside Nick and stared ahead of them, peering into the darkness in an attempt to figure out which path would lead them back to civilization.
