With the Dent siblings flanking each side of him, Elijah had nowhere to run and Jen’s firm grip of his shoulder enforced this. Eli looked at Jen and saw his mother. They’d tied up his parents and left them in a closet in Berlin somewhere. They’d then decided to use Polyjuice to look get in. Rob had even fixed up an antidote so they could reveal themselves at the right time. Clearly something big was going to happen. So of course, beside him were Viktor and Anastasiya Krum and beneath the facade...two escapees.
“So why are you bringing your parents again, love?” Jen cooed in his ear, squeezing his shoulder uncomfortably. Elijah swallowed hard and moved his shoulders uncomfortably. Jen released him and pressed a kiss to his temple in apology before nudging the boy. “Answer me Eli.” She whispered in his ear. Elijah tensed and glanced up at Rob who was looking straight ahead.
“I wanted to draw the Minister...and mum likes these sort of things...” He mumbled, his voice shaking a bit. He rubbed his hands on the jeans Jen had made him wear and glanced up again at Rob. This time Rob and Jen were looking at each other, communicating something. The two mirrored smirks and Eli shuddered. How this had happened he didn’t even know. They hadn’t been out of Azkaban long, he knew that much. “I wanted to draw the Minister” He mumbled.
“What was that, love?” Jen asked, looking at him. Eli shrugged and she nodded before beginning to fiddle with one of the toggles on the fur coat she’d stolen from his mother’s temporary wardrobe.
The trio walked into the Great Hall and Jen shrugged the coat off. Rob took it from her and draped it over his arm. He motioned for Eli to remove his own coat and Eli did so with some hesitance. He moved to follow Jen who had wandered off but Rob grabbed his forearm and hauled him back. Eli winced and tried to wriggle out of his tight grip but Rob held him firmly. “Muck this up boy and it’ll be Fauve’s head on the chopping block.” He hissed. Eli paled visibly and Rob smiled before pressing a glass of wine into the teen’s hands. “I’m bluffing but Jen’s not. Muck it up and you won’t see that little girl for the rest of your life. Or ... she won’t see you. It depends.” He dropped the coats into Eli’s arms and wandered off to tend to his ‘wife’. Eli fell back into a chair, his mouth agape. He blinked a few times before abandoning the coats, picking up the wine and following his ‘parent’s’.
Rob caught him by the scruff of the neck so Eli didn’t run past them and he pulled Eli against his side. Eli blinked a few times and found himself in front of Khaat, the Minister and his daughter. Jen smiled charmingly and Rob wrapped an arm idly around her waist. It was all so wrong. So, so wrong. “Ro-Father...” Eli whispered. Rob looked down at him and raised an eyebrow. Eli swallowed. “Is Fauve okay?” Rob nodded and Eli visibly relaxed.
“Ah! Mrs. Dent!” Jen said, her voice mocking. Eli pinched the bridge of his nose and looked up at Rob whose eyes were fixed firmly on the table decoration. “It is so wonderful to meet you. I am Anastasiya Krum. I am sure you know my husband, Viktor, and of course my darling Elijah.” Rob grabbed the scruff of Eli’s neck and pushed him towards Jen. It was a subtle movement completely unnoticed. Jen placed a hand on Eli’s head and smiled. “He’s my pride and joy. It’s such a shame we couldn’t bring his little one but she’s a heavy sleeper. Where is your husband?” Jen asked, pretending to look around.
Elijah scoffed mentally and felt Jen’s fingers begin to leaf through his hair. He bit the inside his cheek to stop himself from saying anything and he felt Jen pulled on a strand of his hair. Instead of talking to the Minister, Elijah looked u at his mother. “Where is Fauve, mother? You didn’t say where she was.” Eli said pointedly. Jen looked at him and smiled innocently.
“Why, in her bedroom of course.” She turned back to Khaat, taking the wine from Eli as she did so. “He asks some silly questions. May we sit?”
