And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony Empty Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony

(ooc: Just go ahead and say your first year was there the whole time, so we don't have worries about anybody being late :3 IMPORTANT: When you reply, pick a number 1-8 in an OOC comment like this one, so you can be assigned the type of dragon your student will get! Information about the type you'll get will be PM'd to you, so you know how each kind works Very Happy )

Keiran had never quite approved of the idea of the students being in charge of dragons - tiny or otherwise - but it was clear that they didn't have much of a choice. They would simply have to keep an eye on the students and ensure that everyone remained safe. Standing inside the greenhouse as they were, nobody needed to worry about the chill that permeated the air outside or the slight slosh that fell and settled on the ground. A slight warming charm had been cast about the greenhouse to ensure that the dragon eggs had the heat they needed, and that the students weren't shivering as they waited for their 'pets' to hatch.

He knew that they had been involved in Herbology classes in which they had learned about the types of dragons they might expect from their eggs, but there was no guarantee that students would get things right all the time. Feeding them the wrong things or even keeping them in conditions not compatible to their preferences would upset the dragons and cause trouble. Keiran's hands were clenching on and off, so he stuffed them into his coat pockets, shifting his weight. It was probably wise, he mused, that he had seen to his leg that morning. It was slowly getting better, though he was sure that he probably confused the students when he switched from not using a cane back to needing one, nearly daily. But it really was getting better, and that's all he cared about.

"Alright," he said finally, once the students had settled a bit, "Be sure to start thinking up some creative names the dragons will like, because that sound? That cracking sound? It means they're getting close to hatching."

Indeed, there were little sounds coming from the eggs, tiny though they were, and Keiran himself had to wonder just how incredibly small the dragons would be. He had heard that they wouldn't be more than five inches when they were fully grown, so they had to be quite tiny when they were first born. If a student ended up hurting their dragon by sitting on it, Keiran didn't think he would manage to look surprised.

At his side, Avery looked a bit nervous herself. As a Beast Specialist - not to mention a substitute at Hogwarts, she had volunteered to attend the ceremony and take tabs on how things went. She wasn't the only other adult there, of course, with the event being open to others involved in the department at the Ministry. But he took a bit of comfort from knowing that at least one of them knew what they were talking about when it came to the creatures.

Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony Empty Re: Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony

Post by Ciara McGee Mon Nov 03, 2014 7:47 pm

(OOC: I choose 4)

Ciara was excited about getting her a dragon, even if it was just miniature one. She also wondered what kind of type dragon she will get awhile she walked towards the Greenhouse. When she walked in she saw eggs there and she hoped it will be time to them hatch now. She smiled too all adults and even said hello to them. After that she had to wait others to arrive too. Soon they were here.

When one man who names was Keiran began to talk she did listen what he said. To be honest she had quite many names in her head but she couldn't choose what kind of name she wants exactly. She first wants to see her dragon, then she can decided what name is most suitable for her.

To be honest Ciara was a little bit nervous about it too. It would be first alive dragon she sees and she isn't sure if she can take care of it right way. Even if she had learned about dragons in her herbology lesson. She tried not to seem nervous but she was. She smiled there and waited dragon eggs to hatch now.

Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony Empty Re: Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony

Post by Poppy Levski Mon Nov 03, 2014 11:48 pm

(OOC:  Um...5.)

Poppy had found that, being smaller than the others, if she hoped to see, she needed to move a bit closer to the instructors. Otherwise, she was constantly looking over the heads of her classmates.

Dragons.  That had excited her.  She was going to get a dragon. She wasn't sure, exactly, how she was going to keep her pet owl, Nyx, from eating the hatchling or from being jealous.  Nyx had been, for the last couple of years, the best and only friend Poppy had had.

Her parents had had some misgivings about her having something that breathed fire. She wasn't sure which parent had caved first and had allowed it, but somehow they had given in.

She felt more than a bit embarrassed as her owl flew in, dropped a letter into her hand and then perched herself on her shoulder.  Poppy nervously shoved the letter into her robe pocket without looking at it. Sighting the hatching eggs, the owl craned her head forward with great interest and screeched.

"Shh," Poppy whispered, feeling her face getting red. She reached up and snapped the beak of the bird shut with her fingers. "You can't eat them!"  Annoyed, the bird tugged on Poppy's hair. The bird didn't like being told no.  Poppy sighed, feeling the guy with the walking stick was probably going to give her detention.  She drew a treat out of her robe pocket and fed the bird, hoping to quiet it and get the bird to stop focusing on the hatchlings.

"She won't eat them, Professor," Poppy said timidly. "I promise."  Well, she hoped Nyx wouldn't, anyway.

Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony Empty Re: Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony

(ooc: Krissu, if you have any questions about her dragon, let me know! The dragon is yours to create a personality for and all the rest, once they've hatched Smile )

Gazing around at the little first years, Keiran offered his best attempts at a gentle smile. Not all of them seemed prepared, to say the least, but he supposed they would be more excited when the little things were finally sitting in front of them. They'd likely make quite a racket in classes, which would be frustrating for the professors, but Keiran half expected that once everyone got used to them, things would end up alright. For everybody.

His eyebrows raised when the owl flew in, not entirely sure how the bird had managed to do so. But it wasn't a moment before his lips thinned into a line as the bird seemed to be a bit too curious. The Hufflepuff seemed to catch his look of disapproval, though, because she quickly jumped to the animal's defense.

"See that she doesn't," Keiran replied, trying to keep his tone kind. The stress that surrounded children watching the Triflings was starting to grate on him as the cracking sounds grew louder.

"Alright, kids," Avery started, pressing her palms into the top of the long table so she could lean forward and smile at them. "Pay close attention! When the crack lines start spreading, you'll want to watch for parts of the shell breaking off so the dragon can get out." Pointing to the one closest to Keiran - Ciara's egg - she added, "See? The top part is cracking quickly now, so it shouldn't be long."

Across the greenhouse, one boy's egg made a loud snapping sound as a circle on top of the shell popped off and onto the table. The boy jumped away, his gaze flying to the adults across from him, trying to figure out what to do. Avery sent him a reassuring smile, though, gesturing to the egg. "Better start thinking of names," she joked lightly, watching as a little burst of magic flew out of the top of the boy's egg. "Ah. You've got one of the wish triflings," she explained. "You'll have a lot of fun with that one, I think, though all of them are pretty special."

Turning to the other students, Keiran's gaze swept over the other eggs. It was just lucky that they didn't expect any to shoot fire at the students. Very quickly, the cracking sounds started coming from all over the greenhouse, making him tense up and keep a wary eye on the students for fear that they might get a bit too nervous.

Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony Empty Re: Dragon Hatching & Naming Ceremony

Post by Louis Weasley Tue Nov 11, 2014 8:29 pm

(OOC. seven)

Barbara has been waiting for this since the school started. She couldn't wait to see her dragon and knowing she'll get one soon fulfilled her chest with joy. Of course she knew that the dragon won't be hers for real, that couldn't stop her for choosing names for it. She already made a list with more than 100 names little dragon might like, and she just needed to wait for it to hatch so she could read them to it. Barbi, as classic 11 year old kid thought the dragon will somehow tell her which name he likes, well the dragons in the every movie she watched did that, so why would anything be different today?

She just needed to wait for the dragons to hatch. Barbara leaned forward, being one of the smallest in the group sometimes wasn't the best. Watching the egg in front of her wasn't the most interesting thing she did in her life but there's a dragon in there, and since the beast specialist and the deputy headmaster told them that the dragons will soon get out she took a breath and decided she will wait for little dragon to hatch. But listening cracking sounds all over the room while her egg didn't have any crack wasn't that fun.
"Come on." A silent whisper left her lips while her eyes eagerly watched the egg in front of her.

Post by Lara Beauchene Fri Nov 28, 2014 3:57 pm

(OOC. 3)

The fact that she could have a dragon was like dream coming true for Lara. Her parents were a bit sceptical but at the end they approved it. From that moment, Lara counted days until this moment. And it finally came. Her excitement grew from week to week. Knowing that she will have her dragon by the end of the day made her jumping around all over the castle.

She arrived to the greenhouse among first students, which allowed her to stand in first row. She didn't really pay attention to adults or her friends, all she could see were eggs. She watched them carefully, patiently waiting for them to start hatching. And when they did, she started smiling happily, waiting to meet her new friend.
She couldn't help herself so she started laughing softly. Lara loved animals with all her heart and she knew she will be able to take care of her dragon well. The only thing she needed was a name, but she believed she'll come up with some once she sees her dragon.

Ciara looked at her egg when it began to make cracking sound. She really waa exicted now. She really wanted to see her dragon already. She wasn't sure how to call it yet but she had many names in her head what she could use. She saw that one boy had already her dragon. That looked pretty, she hoped hers was too.

The cracks become bigger and bigger. After few minutes cracking she saw her dragon too. "You're so pretty," she said there and wondered what her name could be. "Let's call you Chara," she said there now with a smile. She wondered if her dtagon liked that name now. She smiled and looked at. She wasn't at first sure what to do with it.

(Ooc: I hope it was okay that i did write that Ciara's dragon came out of egg already)
