Amelia was unsurprised when Arthur provided the answers to the questions Professor Gibbs posed to the class, easily fulfilling the role of class know-it-all. Having already answered one of the questions, Amelia had remained quiet during the rest of the questioning period, taking notes but not speaking out. She did not prefer to make a scene of herself in the classroom, nor anywhere else for that matter, but Arthur seemed hardly to mind drawing attention to himself, demonstrating this once more as he performed the homorphus charm effectively in demonstration for the class.
Amelia probably should have been impressed by this feat, but her dislike for the Gryffindor boy kept her from celebrating his personal successes. It wasn’t that she considered him competition – Amelia was far more likely to compete against herself when it came to academics than to compare herself to others – but rather that he seemed to have a completely different mentality than she did about showing off his talents and abilities. His pompous attitude and inability to keep thoughts to himself annoyed Amelia immensely, so much so that she disliked him without ever having spoken to him for longer than a few seconds.
Upon receiving the instructions about the pixies, Amelia pulled her wand from the waistband of her skirt and held it tightly in her hand. Although the professor had worded the task such that it was a competition between the students in the class, Amelia instead chose to set a personal challenge, hoping for three Elvises (a muggle figure she knew only because of her serious obsession with music of all kinds). It would be a feat to get that many, Amelia knew, and she was probably overestimating her abilities, but it had always been her policy to challenge herself beyond her expectations. That way, if she fell short, at least she had still accomplished something.
The pixies were flying all around her and the other students, causing some of her peers to duck for cover, others flinging spells haphazardly around the room. Amelia took time to focus on one pixie in particular, one who seemed to have a wounded wing and thus would be easier to hit with a spell. Just as the creature flew past her forehead, Amelia pointed her wand upward and immobilized it with the flick of her wand, the blue thing falling to her feet.
Deciding to complete the task in parts, Amelia began looking for another pixie which she would be capable of hitting with an immobulus charm. All the slow ones seemed to have been taken by now, and thus the faster pixies were darting among the heads of the few students who were still on the lookout for prey. Knowing she had to act quickly, Amelia spotted one that was flying in front of Arthur and flung an immobilizing charm toward the creature, but at the last moment, the creature whizzed out of the line of her spell, leaving the charm directed right at Arthur’s chest.
Oh no! Amelia thought, both hands flying up to her mouth as she watched the beam of blue light streaming right for her classmate, tempted to close her eyes but unable to look away.
((Since I am not allowed to god-mod the spell hitting him, this situation will only be complete after Arthur posts whether or not the spell hits him.))
