Vincent dodged the spell just in time, but was not able to prevent Matt from knocking Khaat down. Vincent did not exactly know why he was helping Khaat, wasn't this the perfect time to apparate away with the artifact? Leaving her to die at the hands of Matt? It would get rid of Khaat, and Matt as well, who would be blamed for her death. However, this was a good chance to make Khaat even more indebted to him. Vincent thought it was time to end the duel, with a single spell that worked pretty well against Vampires. "Aequitas!" Vincent casted, a blue jet of light flew towards Matt.

Matt was not awere that Majere had casted a spell. Just before he was going to sink his fangs in Khaat's neck he felt pain. This pain was something only he had felt when he was a human....almost like the cruciatis curse. He flew off Khaat and landed on the cement sidewalk. It took him a while before he could get back up...

Khaat levitated him now that Vincent had him contained. "I'm taking him inside to tend to him and to feed him," Khaat told Vincent. "And I need you to come with me to contain him in case the spell wears off in the meantime. He'll be back to himself once he's fed. Come with me, Vincent. I need your help."

Vincent shrugged, personally he would have liked to kill the vampire scum, but he had made an impression on Khaat apparently, and this was something to build on. To make her trust him, like Wilson did now. Idiots. "Alright sure," he said, following her.

Khaat took Matt inside, and healers and assistants flew to help her. They provided her a room and a bed for him, and she lowered him onto it. An assistant brought her some vials of fresh blood and left her. She used healing spells to heal Matt, and then took one of the vials. She saw the petrification was wearing off. She looked back at Vincent and knew his wand would be at the ready without her asking for it. She held the vial of blood in front of Matt for him to take as soon as he had strength enough to do so. "Drink, Matt," she said quietly. "We realize you're hungry. We have plenty more."

Matt looked at her and took the blood from he and drank it reluctantly. As soon as he had taken it his eyes had returned to the normal green colour. He sighed and looked at Khaat. Sorry bout that... he said. I calculated the time I would be there wrong...

Vincent watched quietly from the background. But when Matt apologized, Vincent narrowed his eyes. "Stupid, exceedingly stupid. You don't know how close you were to killing us Lestrange," he said acidly.

Matt turned to Vincent with a grim look on his face. He closed his eyes and then opened them to look at him. I am really sorry Vincent... he said. He groaned and lay his head back. This was probably his last day as a Hogwarts teacher...
