O.W.L. Lesson 2nd

Ruby grinned. 'It's a date!' she exclaimed happily, willing her eyes back to their original colour. Most people found her red eyes scary.
She nodded when Eli spoke, agreeing with what he said even though it wasn't the true reason she couldn't practise. 'Mmmm.... yeah.' She watched him draw absentmindedly until he handed the drawing to her. She looked at it blankly for a second, before smiling mischieviously. Waving her wand at it, she caused a moon and stars to appear on the paper. 'Although..... quidditch by moonlight is way funner.'
Ruby said as she looked up, holding his gaze with an unspoken challenge in her eyes. She just hoped he wasn't one of the rule-obsessors. Nothing was worse than a guy who was any less than daring, in her opinion.

Elijah smiled at her enthusiasm and chuckled lightly. She seemed thoughtful when he mentioned the sun and Elijah raised an eyebrow in silent interest. There was definitely something different about that girl.

She waved her wand at the paper and a moon appeared before she commented on how a moonlight game of Quidditch was better.
"Most definitely. I had some friends that were sons and daughters of the old caretaker at our mansion. Luckily they were 'magical' and we always used to play by moonlight. It's rubbish when the moon isn't out because you can't see." Elijah chuckled and added, "the caretaker's eldest daughter fell from her broom one night because of that... She was okay in the end but wont go near a broom now."

Ruby listened to him talking interestedly. 'Well, you haven't flown properly until you've had a few good falls.' She shook her head scornfully at the thought of someone refusing to fly after one small incident.
'Okay, so tomorrow night would be better then?' She watched him hopefully for an answer. If tomorrow was sunny she would probably end up stuck inside all day and wouldn't make it. Everything would be so much simpler if it was dark, even with all the sneaking around to get outside she would have to do.

Ruby accepted the chocolate and looked at it thoughtfully. She wanted to eat it, but something inside of her was stopping her. There was no point eating something when you were only going to bring it up again at the first chance you got, was there?

Ruby looked longingly at the chocolate. A tiny bit wouldn't hurt, surely? She smiled as she accepted the chocolate and murmered a 'Thanks' before biting a tiny bit off.

Hoping Elijah wouldn't notice, she hid her mouth behind her hand, pretending to eat it all when she was infact slipping the pieces into her sleeve. She had no intention of explaining her apparent lack of appetite.

People didn't take kindly to her Bulimia.

Ruby smiled. 'Mmmmhmmm.' She nodded, agreeing with Eli. 'Curfews are made to be broken.'

Ruby narrowed her eyes at Elijah as they flashed a dangerous purple. How had he done that? She hadn't seen him looking at her...

She lifted her arm and shook it, causing the chocolate pieces to go flying across the table, watching Elijah all the while. Her face was completely expressionless, betraying no emotion, apart from the change in eye-colour. Though she looked completely calm, Ruby's thoughts were in turmoil.

Did he know? Why else would he be making such pointed comments? But surely that was impossible! She hadn't done anything to suggest she was Bulimic. She could just hate chocolate for all he knew.

'What do you mean?' Ruby said. She sounded normal enough but the dangerous glint in her eyes was warning enough. She had kept her eyes fixed scrutinisingly on Elijah ever since his comment, and the effect it probably had on him was not pleasant. When she felt threatened, Ruby could be truly terrifying. Her morphing ability helped, of course. And she did feel very threatened now.

Ruby frowned for a second, wondering whether to believe him or not. After a second she shook her head and turned to look back out of the window. 'It's nothing.'

She listened to what he said and could not help chuckling. 'I didn't know I was sitting next to a philosopher.' She teased. 'How about an in-depth explanation as to where life originated from next?'

She smiled and turned back to look at him, mood swinging back to how it was as though nothing had happened.

If only you knew.... she thought to herself sadly. If everyone had as many secrets as her, the world would be the complete opposite of sincere. I must be hiding behind more masks than is imaginable....
