Varod's New Apartment

"What's happened?" Varod asked seeing the sadness in her eyes. He pulled her inside properly, shut the door, and sat her down. "Okay, spill it, I'm all ears."
Hugging her tightly, he waited for her answer.

She had wanted to push him away but she couldn't. Her feelings for her wouldn't let her, "My...my father." she said quietly. "He was killed by Ne'os last night." she said looking at him now breaking down into tears. "That stupid leech murdered my father for no reason!"

"I understand...both sides," Varod said after a few moments of silence. "I'm not saying what Ne'os did was right, but he did it for the right reasons. See it from his view: the man who expelled him and his kind is dead, and hopefully the new minister will change it, or at least throw the ministry into turmoil for the time being. Then I can see your side: Ne'os took your father from you because he was a vampire. But it wasn't because he was a vamp, it's because of the laws against the vamps. Look, if I had known he was gonna, I would have done my best to stop him and handle things domestically."

"Its not the point!" she said looking at him, "Laws or no laws, now its not just the confederacy that will be hunting down him and that resistance." she said looking at him. "Everyone in Germany is screaming for his execution for it. His final death. I want to be the one to deliver the killing blow myself but I can't." she said as tears of sadness and anger falling down her face.

"You don't understand politics." she said looking at him, "I shouldn't expect you to either. You weren't raised like me to understand the political mind but what he did was a direct blow for me and not for the laws. Everyone knows he hated me, and while I made no attempt to hide my dislike for him I never once attacked him."

"He didn't do it to hurt you, though that probably gave him some happiness, he did it to deliver a heavy blow to the opposing side!" Varod tried to explain to her. "And since I know you're in the Confederacy, I think you should know...I'm in the Resistance."
Looking grim, he waved his wand a brought a sword to him.
"Here's a test," he said, handing it to her. "If you truly want the vamps dead, then strike me down now, I won't stop you."

"Please don't do this." she said looking at him through tears pleadingly. "Please don't make me have to." she said dropping the sword. She was shaking so bad that she couldn't even hold the small sharp katana that he had handed her. It was almost embarrassing.

Varod smiled at her.
"I just had to know, now I have proof you still love me," he said, matter-of-factly. "And I want to help you in any way I can to get through this. All you have to do is trust me..."
He leaned over and kissed her cheek lightly and started playing with Christy's hair. "Promise you'll let me?"

"I can't. Not if you're a part of something that someone who helped form it was a part of that murdered my father." she said looking at him. "I want to trust you but I can't...You have to understand, If Ne'os was or is in the resistance that makes you all guilty for what happened to my father, not just him."

"How? I didn't do it, and I already said I didn't approve of it," Varod said, indignantly. "You've never cared about all that, why'd you start? I love you more than anything..."
He held her hand and stared into her eyes.
"You may think we can't be together, but neither of us has ever obeyed the rules!"

She looked at him, there in fact had been times when she broke the rules but they were few and far between. "A lot more than you know." she said looking at him. "You don't get it." she said looking at him, "I didn't think you would. I'm a pure blood." she said looking at him. "Y..You're just a muggle born vampire. I have certain appearances to keep up." She tried to explain as to make it look like it wasn't his fault but she knew it didn't come out like that.
