Sterling noticed she was backing out, and relief filled him. The desire faded away completely and he quickly pulled away from her. The couch elongated and he sat as far as he possible could away from her without falling off. He gasped. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." he heard himself saying. He wanted to jump into a hole and hide there... away from everybody. To his ironic amusement, a hole opened up in the floor of the room of requirements. He got up off the couch. He wished there to be a barrier between him and Chase, and instantly a brick wall materialized between them. Relieved, he fell on his back, gasping. He wanted Chase back right now, but at the same time never wanted to see her again.
"It's late, we should go to bed," he panted. He made for moving toward the door. He intentionally didn't make a day for them to return to the Room of Requirements as he walked away... he hoped he could resist the temptation of coming here on a whim as he had done that day. He was about to say See you later, before he realized he didn't want to... she probably didn't want to... he slipped out of the room wordlessly into the darkness, headed toward Ravenclaw Tower.
