Felix looked up to see her smiling and he couldn't help but feel slightly relieved. She wasn't going to kick him out.. he had just made an ass of himself in front of her, and she still didn't think him unworthy of help. So many others had, but here was this woman.. this half-veela, charming, beautiful woman, who was willing to stick by his side and help him out.
She changed the subject so quickly that Felix found himself trying to realize what she was talking about. After a moment his eyes widened and he looked around the room. "I er.. I don't want to inconvenience you.. I mean.. if it's because I'm here that you want that, I mean.. I can go sleep anywhere else.. you know me, not been in a house for some time anyway." He smiled at her lightly and shrugged.
"My last lodgings before Sophia was a cave.. it was pretty open, had it's own water feature, I had caught a bunch of animals around the area, and made a nice bed of fur to sleep on.. I had a pot for food, and a village near it, occasionally I'd get things like eggs and vegetables, there was a little girl.." Felix trailed off for a moment, a smile on his lips.
"There was this little girl who used to think I was a fairy.. she had blonde hair and the most gorgeous blue eyes... if I had had a daughter, that's how I wanted her to look.. so sweet and innocent and happy. She'd wrap up some bread, or make cookies, her family thought it was funny. They'd make her things to give the fairy, and assumed she slept walked and ate them herself.." He smiled and shook his head.
"They were a normal happy family, sometimes I'd sit under her window and listen as her father tucked her in, and then she'd get up and come to the window.. and she'd talk... she thought the fairy was listening.. and I guess I was.. I was in a bush under the window, so she couldn't see me even if she had looked down. She'd talk about.. how her parents were fighting, but her mom was going to have a baby... she'd talk about how they were gonna get a puppy, but she wanted a kitten." Felix felt tears sting his eyes at the memory.
"I'd leave her little things... I'd go on hunts for weeks to find things I thought she'd like... pretty feathers and shiny rocks.. once I found a Unicorn hair up near my cave, I put it in a vial and gave it to her..." Felix smiled again and looked at Christy, unsure of what had caused this sudden swing of emotion. "I was found one day.. I thought they had all gone to bed, so when I sat up to put down a pretty ribbon I had found in exchange for a loaf of bread.. well.. her father was there. He must have seen tracks I had left and waited to see if there really was someone there visiting his daughter.. I meant no harm, but he saw me, and I disapparated."
Felix shuddered and looked away. "After that I left that area for town.. it wasn't safe there anymore and that's when I decided I needed help.." Felix trailed off and shook his head. "Hope that doesn't make me out to be a creep or anything... I've just... always wanted a daughter.."
