Jemma laughed, but she knew what Mariana meant. Her family was quite hard to understand, they were nothing like the typical family. It had been until she was ten, which was when her parents split up. From then on everything had gone pear-shaped.
"Well, it's quite complicated," she began. It was a long story, but they had all day.
"I've never been married, as you probably know. I had a steady boyfriend, Liam, when I was younger, and well, my daughter, Sasha, wasn't exactly planned. I was only twenty at the time and Liam was twenty one. He didn't exactly react positivly when I told him. He freaked out and left." she told Mariana. She hadn't told this story many times, she didn't open up to people easily. She was trying not to leave anything out here though. She continued with her story.
"Looking back on it, I guess it was good that I found out Liam was such a....well that Liam wasn't the man for me. At the time I was devastated. Alone and pregnant. My mother was supportive though, and she helped me to bring Sasha up. She lived alone, as my parents split up when I was ten." she made sure to tell Mariana her parents were divorced. She didn't know that she had a daughter, so she might not know this either. "Anyway, us three girls lived together. My mum had a job which payed for us all. I stayed home to look after Sasha all day. When she turned eleven, she was accepted at Hogwarts. Unfortunately..." she hadn't realised her story would come to this point. She hated this point. She could hardly bear to say it out loud. Hell, she could hardly bear to think anout it. She usually blacked out this part of her life.
"My mother...she passed away two weeks before Sasha started school."
Jemma burst into tears.
She didn't cry often. In fact she barely cried at all. However, she barely ever talked about her mother. Her mother had done so much for her and Sasha over the years but she was gone so soon.
