Ravenclaw Common Room

Sterling had a black cloak in his dormitory. When he got in, he realized all his fellow fourth years were asleep. With a pang of guilt, he grabbed a black robe and dashed back downstairs. "Amiculum ungucorvus!" he recited. To his horror, the arm of the cloak sprouted an eagle claw and the other a raven head. He shrieked girlishly as he released it. The half-transfigured cloak bellowing in indignation and agony. He looked helplessly at Davina.

Davina watched Sterling bring a plain cloak down. To her horror, it litrally turned into a Raven-claw cloak! "Finite incantatum." she said, instinctivly. Luckily, the cloack retrurned to black. "Ok, that was a bit...literal. What do you think would be best?" she asked him, as he had a lot more experience than her in creating spells. She thought maybe 'blue' would work, but the right type of blue might not come out.

"I'm not too good at transfiguration. Lemme see the Latin book." he said. He grabbed the book. And leafed through it, tearing one of the thin pages but concealing what he had done. "This is a tricky one. Caeruleus means dark blue... we could just do color and worry about symbols later. What do you think? Caeruleus amiculum?"

It was lucky Davina didn't see him tear the page, or she would have been very upset. She loved her books. "Hhm, we could try that. Would Amiculum come first because in latin they have a different word order." she said. She didn't want to sound too nerd-ish, but she had studied latin before she came to Hogwarts as they didn't study languages at Hogwarts. She knew a lot of French and some Spanish too. Her parents were keen on languages, especially as her dad came from France. Amiculum Caeruleus. she said, trying not to be too loud as she didn't want to wake anyone up. The cloak did turn dark blue, but not a Ravenclaw blue. There was no symbol either. Symbol. She looked through her book once more. "What about aquila typicus, for 'eagle symbol' as the animal for Ravenclaw is an eagle, not a raven?" she suggested, hoping that would work. She muttered "Finite incantatum." so the cloak went back to normal.

Sterling tried unsuccessfully to stifle a yawn. "Try it," He said. He wasn't very good at transfiguration. His thoughts started to jumble together. He looked at his watch and realized it was almost midnight. He didn't want to seem rude, but a part of him longed for sleep.

Davina heard Sterling yawn and checked her watch. It was almost midnight! Him yawning made her yawn too. "Amiculum aquila typicus." she said, praying that this would work. It did! The cloak now had a Ravenclaw symbol on it, with the Ravenclaw markings. It wasn't a blue Quidditch Robe, but it looked like the normal, black, everyday Ravenclaw Uniform. "It worked." she said, excited but tired. She wanted to sleep but she thought it would be rude to say so.

Sterling smiled, then yawned again, much more obvious this time. "Oh that's good. Let's do it tomorrow. Goodnight Davina" he said without waiting for a response as he trudged up to the dormitories. He could catch up on studying tomorrow....

Davina smiled, glad that it had finally worked. She felt really proud. She had made up her own spell! Sterling had helped her loads, but she had thought of the idea. He was a great teacher. "Yeah, we should." she agreed, looking forward to it. "Night" she called as he went up to his dormitory. She yawned, realising she had nothing to do now. She guessed she better go up to bed as well. She picked up her books and climbed the stairs to the girls dormitories. She would study some more tomorrow afternoon, she thought to herself.
