"Exactly, you're both right," Jess replied to the two students who answered, taking special note of the boy's answer. More likely than not he was experiencing identical symptoms to Jess, in fact Jess was willing to hazard a guess that the boy was also a pureblood... that was interesting.
"So," he began, "we'll be learning the muggle way of starting fires today. Now, there are a few different ways, some more... rustic... than others, so we'll try a few different techniques," he told them, gesturing for the kids to come over to his desk.
"So, for the first method we'll be using nothing other than what nature gives us," he explained, pulling out a piece of wood, a stick, a piece of bark, and some grass he'd dried for the lesson. "You make a notch in your piece of wood, for the stick to go in, you then put a little piece of bark underneath, because apparently it catches fire easily," he told them, feeling a little uncertain about his explanation - he'd practiced it before the lesson, but he wasn't sure about how to tell them what to do (words weren't his talent today)
"Then you spin the stick as fast as you can between your hands, which creates a lot of friction and starts to warm up the wood, eventually to the point that an ember will form, which you can transfer to the tinder and then nurture your ember into a flame, like so," he told them, demonstrating the spinning action he'd explained. "Does that make sense?" he asked
