Music to my ears

Jimmy couldn't help but giggle quietly at her reaction to his presence, his eyes meeting hers before turning to the ground and back. Jimmy could feel his cheeks getting hotter and hotter and he nervously patted his right one as if that would somehow help.

As she had answered his internal question, Jimmy looked down at his guitar and gulped slightly. It was a lot easier for him when Cecilia was playing too. Now he felt like he was under immense pressure to impress her and it showed. Taking a deep cleansing breath, Jimmy took his pick and began to strum.

His hands must've gotten sweaty however, as the pick slipped out of his hands and onto the grass. Laughing nervously, Jimmy picked it up again and began to play.

Kaleigh watched interested as Jimmy began to play and smiled immediately recognizing the song. She sat up across from him and moved to the music slowly as she listened to him play quietly while mumbling some of the lyrics under her breath. She switched to sitting on her knees and looked nervously at the ground before looking at the sky and singing along now.

"Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you too

I remember you said,

She looked at a few birds flying above her head before smiling brightly and continuing to sing along with Jimmy's playing as she stared him in his blue eyes.


"I hate to turn up out of the blue uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it.
I'd hoped you'd see my face and that you'd be reminded
That for me it isn't over."

Kaleigh fiddled with her hands as she belted out the lyrics getting into the song mentally.

"Nothing compares
No worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes
They are memories made.
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?"

She paused with her singing and bit her lip tentatively thinking, trying to remember the next lyrics. She missed some words but got back on track and sand the ending of the song while closing her eyes happily.

When she finished singing she kept her eyes close waiting for Jimmy to speak, hoping that he didn't mind for her to sing along with his playing.

Jimmy was completely lost in the moment. "What a voice.." his brain repeated over and over. Closing his eyes, Jimmy played on, a little surprised at how well he was playing as he hadn't played this song in ages. "This is wonderful...".

As the song grew on, Jimmy opened his eyes and gazed upon Kaleigh. He became so transfixed by her that he started missing notes. Blushing heavily, Jimmy upped his concentration, hoping the mood wasn't ruined by his sloppy finger work.

Jimmy gracefully brought the song to a close, extending the last few notes. Resting his guitar on his lap, Jimmy stared at Kaleigh, his eyes filled with wonder and intrigue. "That was wonderful....amazing..." he said softly, inching a little closer to her. "So...um....tell me about yourself?" he added nervously.

Kaleigh opened her eyes slowly, blushing slightly as Jimmy said it was wonderful, amazing and blushed a little harder as he moved closer to her. She turned her away from him shyly and looked into the other direction watching a butterfly go by her eyes.

"So...um....tell me about yourself?"

She turned to look him in his eyes again, trying not to blush more then she already was at the moment. "Oh.. u.. uhm what... What do you .. uh.. Want to know?" She asked nervously racking her brain of ideas on what to say to him. Her brain suddenly went dead as she stared into his eyes, lost.

"I.. Uh.." She stuttered hoping that she didn't sound too foolish but realized it was a bit to late to hope that.

Jimmy felt strange. His pulse was racing and his nerves were on edge but....he felt happy. He had a strong, warm comforting feeling at the pit of his stomach that spread slowly upwards as he looked at her and as she spoke.

"Oh.. u.. uhm what... What do you .. uh.. Want to know?"

Jimmy laughed lightly, hoping to make Kaleigh relax a little, though he found her shyness endearing. "I don't know" he said softly. "Um, what do you do here?" Jimmy asked her, hoping he could get a conversation going, something that he always struggled with.
