Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Hunting: Forbidden Forest - Page 9 Empty Re: Hunting: Forbidden Forest

Post by Jess Potter Tue May 15, 2012 6:30 am

The Forbidden Forest was known to house a great number of creatures in it. Unicorns and werewolves roamed the foliage, Thestrals and Hippogriffs took to the sky and even Giants had inhabited it at some point... not to mention the largest Acromantula colony in Britain.

But Jess had never seen something so... just... out of place, in the forest before.l

A giant black beatle, moonlight glinting off its steely shell, was trampling trees and beserking outside their tent, snapping its giant pincers at anything that moved.

"Kill it," Jess yelled, waving his own wand and sending a jet of red flying at the beast, only to watch it bounce off the shell and fly off into the forest.

Damon's hope when he saw the spell bounce off the shell vanish in thin air. "There's got to be a weakness on this thing obviously the shell of it, isn't the right spot. I think the weak point just might with as bad as this thing is, is right underneath it's body. Let's just hope that I'm right and we don't end up this things dinner." He said looking at Jess and began wondering how he could get underneath the beast without it trying to kill him first. "I'm gonna need a distraction Jess if you could be so kind as to helping me figure out one. Maybe using some kind of spell that will keep it away while i sneak underneath to kill it. That's of course if i'm right about the soft spot on the beetle."

Jess nodded as Damon gave his suggestion, understanding what the man needed exactly. "Incendio," he cast, intending to start a small trail of fire away from the tent, but instead shooting a massive ball of fire into the canopy of the forest... stupid wand.

In no time at all, the flames spread to create a fiery roof over their heads, with branches and leaves falling to the ground around the beetle. If they didn't leave soon, they'd probably be trapped, relying only on their magic to protect them from the flames. "Damon, keep trying," he yelled, noticing that the bug was more focused on keeping itself out of the fire's way than chomping on the humans below it.

Well, that thing wasn't going to fit in a standard bug jar. Brian had followed them outside and saw them trying wage war on a ridiculous looking gigantic beetle. He made a mental note to headslap Robert for not telling him there were beetles bigger than a breadbox.

"Well, shit," Brian sighed. He saw Jess's wand go wonky. Great. Gigantic, carnivorous looking mega-bug, and a forest fire. The choices seemed to be to be eaten, burned, or die trying. "Obscuro!" If it couldn't see, maybe it would just be stunned enough to stand still without falling on Damon?

The bug reared back on its hind legs, startled as a flaming branch crashed down right in its path. "Stunners on three," Jess bellowed, drawing his wand back as he prepared to curse what appeared to be an unprotected belly of the bug.

"One," he shouted, the fire spread to the tent with its guidelines catching alight, causing a line of fire to spread from the ground to the top of their own sanctuary.

"Two" he continued, the bug now emitting a high pitched screeching noise as it struggled to remain upright, avoiding the flames below whilst simultaneously trying to crush the sources of those stinging lights.

"Three," he screamed, thrusting his wand forward and shooting out a jet of red light, this time directly on the course he intended it to follow.

Damon ran underneath the bug and aimed his wand at what he hoped would be the soft spot on it. "Stupify!" He screamed as he watched it go up to hit the bug as he ran out from underneath it, in case it fell on him. He ran to a near by tree that wasn't burning yet and stood next to it wand still raised at the bug. Damon hoped that it would enough to get the bug stunned then he could kill it. "Jess please tell me that this isn't the bug we need for the cure, cause i'm thinking about killing it before it does us!" He shouted to Jess as he raised his wand again seeing the same spot he aimed his last spell at.
