Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Hunting: Forbidden Forest - Page 3 Empty Re: Hunting: Forbidden Forest

Annabella nodded agreeing with Damon and made note to keep close between Damon and Jess in case something happened. The sounds going on around in the forest was spooking her out a little bit. So that's what they was searching for, a beetle. That's right! She remembered now, only she wondered what it looked like. It would be quite difficult to find such a small beetle in a such a big forest. She quickly pointed her wand to the ground to make sure she didn't trip over the tree limb sticking out of the ground and then continued behind Jess quietly as possible.

A T-Junction appears ahead, with two paths, left and right, appearing in front of you. There appears to be a small source of light floating further down the path to your right, but there's a strange smell coming from that direction. To your left is more darkness, but the smell is nowhere near as strong from that direction. You must choose which way to go.

Jess stopped in his tracks as the path ended, turning around to face the others, a frown set deeply on his face (though he doubted they would see it.) This sort of thing was what he had been dreading most. He felt a sort of responsibility to guide them safely to where they were going, but felt absolutely entirely incompetent in doing so.

"What is that?" he muttered to himself, staring down the right path momentarily before looking at the rest of their group. "Where do you guys think we should go next?" he asked grimly

Annabella stopped beside Jess taking a look at what had stopped him. The cross road looked a bit odd, though the smell was a bit odder then that. "Uhm Jess?" She said pausing to hold her nose. "What do you think could make a smell like that?" She asked looked to the right side of the path where the smell was the strongest. She heard him ask which way they wanted to go pretty much, she didn't want to be the one to answer that question. Annabella kept quiet allowing Damon or Brian to decide instead.

"Ok we either go towards the path that will be lighted a ways down with the strong smell, or continue into darkness. Do you know what the smell could be Jess? Do you know if the beetles we're looking for give off any kind of smell?" Damon asked looking down the lighted path wondering which was safest choice.

"Personally, in this place, I am more concerned about anything that gives off light in here than the darkness. I expect it to be dark here. Not more light. I suppose, if we really wanted to check both ways, we could agree to go just so far down one path before turning back and going the other way. Or--we could split up and go in pairs. Its your call, Jess. I don't know enough about these bugs to know what the most likely environment is to find them in.

"But unless they've moved, the last I knew that the centaurs made camp off in towards the darker trail. They arent' normally all that outgoing, but they might be safer than some of the other things that live here."

Annabella gave Brian a thoughtful look agreeing with him that light was probably bad in a forest where it was normally dark. "Uhm, splitting up might be ok but we would need a way to get in touch wouldn't we? In case someone needs help fast." She said looking at Jess now to see what he thought of it. She didn't mind walking in pairs but it wouldn't be too good if on group got ambushed and the other didn't have a clue about it.

"Staying together is the safest thing right now in these woods, you don't know what you will find out here. Besides last i heard there was a acromantula colony moving around out here looking for a new nest, keeping together is best. I think that the light is from a clearing but i for one don't trust any light out here that isn't from our wands." Damon said looking at Jess then at Brian and Annabella.

Annabella's eyes widen as she was extremely frighten of spiders. She looked around flashing her wands light about her and then stepped closer next to Damon with fear written all over her face. "You.. you... you don't think we.. will see any... do you?" She asked her voice quivering in fear. She continued to look around at her surroundings while twirling a piece of her hair with her finger.

Jess nodded as Damon spoke, inwardly cursing as he mentioned the Acromantula movements. He'd heard about that in his position at Hogwarts (That sort of stuff popped up all the time) but he was personally hoping that they'd not need to think about that tonight.

"Damon is definitely right, whatever we do, we do as a group," he told them... the last thing he wanted was to have to split the group up - that would be a nightmare. "I think that Brian is right, I don't trust light, but we shouldn't close off our options... do we want to quickly go down there and come back after we see what the light is?" He asked them
