Robert laid his hand on Jacks shoulder and apparated them out to the street and realized they were about a block from the house. Robert raised his wand and fired one blast from it. It struck Burke and slammed him hard right into the armoured car, not so much as making a scratch or a dent in the car, but it did knock him cold. Burke slumped to the ground. Robert realized he had broken American wizarding laws by firing out in public and his friends in the american department of magic would be visiting again, but this was justifyable, even by American standards. He wasn't worried.
"Haul him back to the house, Jack. You know where to put him. I'll return him to Gelding in a few moments," Robert said. "Brian, get the car home."
"We can't. It's hexed," Brian said. Robert sighed, and flicked his wand at the car, muttering the countercurse. The engine of the car roared to life. Robert disapparated back home. Angus looked at Khaat. He knew just by looking at her that this had been too much fear too soon. She was mute again. He could see it in her face. Far too many fears too closely together. He had a feeling that once they got home, she'd start to relax and then get her voice back. Instead for now, he merely wrapped his arm around her and pulled her tight against him. She wrapped her arms around his waist and laid her head on his chest.
"We'd never let anything happen to you," he said to her softly.
