Abbey smiled at Andrew and took the sandwich he offered her and ate it, offering to share it with Khaat.
"No, you eat it, Sweetie," Khaat said. The idea of breakfast sandwiches for that huge hungry crew was a good idea. And there were plenty of side dishes to suppliment. Brian fixed a large plate for Khaat to share with Abbey and dakota with sandwiches, fruit, and the little bitesized mini-scones that Angus had made stacks and stacks of in different flavors. Khaat's favorite were the orange ones. Khaat figured he must have made hundreds of the tiny scones. They were easy just to eat in a bite or two and sweet enough they didn't need a thing. No jam, no cream. Just coffee or tea. Some of the men were eating them by the handful, like popcorn.
"You know," Khaat said, "They're going to want him to make these all the time now. He's started something. Popcorn scones."
"Popcorn scones?" Angus laughed. "What?"
"Well, look how they're eating them," she said. "Just like popcorn."
"Um...okay. Popcorn scones it is," he laughed at the unusual name for his mini-pastries.
