Out of the Fire

Jess sat and contined to write down her list as she saw angus set the taqble and smiled "nice" she said thinking she could get Jack to do that "you know you could teach jack a thing or two, it takes me ages to get him to do anything at home , though he pretty handy in the DIY depertment" she said chuckling.

Ronata sat watching and smiled "steven dose it all the time at hokme hes a wizard in the kitchen im suprised i actually get time in there to cook " she said and smiled.

"Maybe Steven and I need to teach Jack how to cook," Angus laughed. He escorted Khaat to the table and helped her to her seat. About that time, Abbey and Dakota began to kick up abit of an angry fuss.

"I didn't forget about you," Angus laughed. "Can someone take these little ladies to the table and I'll get their bowls?" He disappeared back into the kitchen.

Angus watched Brian pick up Abbey, kiss her cheek and wipe awy her angry tears. She soon quit fussing and cuddled into Brian. Robert flicked his wand and moved the high chairs into positions at the table.

Jess moved to lick up Dakota and carry jher to the table. "please some one teach him " she said chuklaing at the look on Jacks face as she placed dakota in the high chair and strapped her in.

"huh anybody going to let me in on the joke" he asked watching the grin on Jessis face as she placed Dakota in the high chair.

Jess shook her head "Khaat sugested Brian and Steven could teach you to cook" she said and chuckled a she sat down her self watching his face as he stood in some what bemusment.

"ow right this for man who burns water " he said and chuckled 2if you want the kitchen in one peice you'd better not" he sat next to her his arm sliding around her waist again as she loked at Khaat. "ok yeah it probably would help if i could do some cooking for her"

"Alright," Angus said, coming back with a bowl of strained foods for each baby. Sweet potatoes, chicken, and strained peaches. He handed one bowl to Khaat and put one bowl down for Brian.

"Thank you," Khaat said. "You don't know how much I appreciate being able to feed my girls." Khaat had remembered how much she had feared, when she was with Felix, she would never have that simple pleasure again. How much she thought she was never going to live to see their first holidays. "Sorry," she said quietly, not wanting to be a downer for everyone.


"You're safe," Brian said, reaching over and laying his hand on hers. "I should tell you, though, I saw Barker yesterday while I was out picking up my suit. I damned near killed him. He got away, but he's in a world of hurt right now. I don't think he'll be around for a day or two. He's got some broken bones to take care of. "

Jess looked at Jack when Brian spoke of Barker she knew the look on his face .

"Hey Jack, chill " she said and glanced at Brian " he wanted to give him a piece also " she said and held Jacks hand "let it go Brian did it and knowing him he did enouph" she felt him relax against her.
"ok jess " he said and held her tight against him "I still would have loved to get hold of him myself though" he looked at Brian his face seriouse "maybe once i'm fully up to speed with my work outs " he said smirking knowing that he would acroding to Brian never get that good he was willing to do his best and more.

'Ah, well, I will fill you all in on Barker, but I refuse to ruin Angus's wonderful meal with talk about a waste of air like Felix Barker," Brian said.

"Here, here," Robert agreed, nodding. "He won't be here today, so he'll hold until after dinner.

"I've never had Morrocan food, Angus," Khaat said, fixing her plate. "It smells fabulous. And I think I'm maybe hungrier than I thought."

"You haven't?" Angus frowned. "Brian, don't you take this beautiful woman anywhere?"

"She's always working," Brian shrugged.

"No excuse. Khaat, you name the time, and I'll take you and Jess and Ronata for some real Morrocan food."

Khaat caught a scowl on Brian's face that had been designed to disapprove Angus's plans.

"She's still a free woman, my friend," Angus laughed.

Brian took Khaat's hand and flashed the ring to Angus. "Mine," he said, with a mock rigid protectiveness. Angus and Robert laughed. Khaat just smiled. She never minded his protection.

"Not until you match that with a wedding band," Angus said.

jess sat with jack who nodded at roberts words "yes sir " he said and jess kissed his cheek then chuckled at Brian and Anug's banter ovr Khaat .
"wow thats something you don't see two men over Khaat " she said and grinned "you muist tell me your secret Khaat " she errned a disaproving look from jack and she smiled "only kidding dear, your the only man for me and Khaat yes when is the date ?" she asked "I know you'll have to wait till after..." she paused then decidede to change the subject "ok khaat what time should I be here tomorow for the shopping day?" she asked looking from Khaat to Brian and back hoping she ahd not just spoiled a good moment.

Khaat laughed. "We don't have a date yet. Who knows? We might end up being old and gray and still engaged. After all, let's see...we met when we were 8, so, uh...it took us 24 years to get engaged? I wonder how long it will take us to get married."

"About fifteen minutes," Robert said dryly.

"That's once I get her down the aisle. How long will it take me to get her there?"

"An imperious would work wonders, Brian," Angus laughed.

Brian laughed. "She'd never forgive me." He fixed his plate and began eating. "Nice job, Angus. I haven 't had Morrocan food this good in years. And, yes, I will make that right with you, Khaat." At that moment, Dakota let out a loud angry yell in Brian's direction.

"You aren't feeding her fast enough, Lad," Robert laughed. "Be glad you didn't bring her a toy to the table. She'd have thrown it at you by now."

bith Jack and jess laughed at Roberts words about Dakota 2I know two more babies that do that even eith food , don't they jack " jess said and saw the look on Jacks face st her bringin it up "he was in the rong place at the rong time and gort a face full of mashed carotts one time from kateline , jacobs a bir more fagiving he just drops it on the floor beside the high chair once he did and i didn't see it i WENT ON MY BUTT THAT DAY"she said and chuckled Jack nodded and chuckled as he ate "wow this is very good never had maroccan before but i could get use to it " Jess cuckled and nodded .

"Me too," Khaat said. "And there is a wonderful dessert, too, so be sure to leave room."

"That was Khaat's doing. She made a chocolate raspberry cappuchino trifle," Angus said. "It looked really incredible while she was fixing it. I have some cinnamon orange Morrocan coffee to have with dessert."

"Oh, and just so you know, Guys," Khaat said. "We ladies are going Christmas shopping tomorrow, to at least get a start on it, and, no, you can't come."

Brian looked visibly uncomfortable with her going out without him.

"Don't worry," Angus said, "I'm going with her. She won't be alone. And Ronata and Jess are going too, so she's never going to have the chance to be by herself."

"Good," Brian said. "Make sure she's not."
