Venturing into Past Lives

"Well, Apollo could've fooled me, since it's getting cloudy", Chryses replied, chuckling softly. Leandros followed close behind, and stared at the girl in front of them leading to the restricted part of the temple.

"We've never been up here, what's it like?" Leandros asked. He couldn't wait to sit down or something other than walking as his feet were aching and he was not feeling so great. Chryses rolled his eyes, he was trying to make conversation in such a pathetic manner.

"You know, if you really want that girl to talk to you, you'd stop being such a scaredy cat", he mocked. Leandros frowned.

"I could say the same to you with that twin of hers that you've been eying".

(Hey I hadn't offered to escort you yet! XD)

Adonia looked at her brother, "Well I wasn't exactly planning on being rude to them since you invited them." she hissed back at him. Still even in hussed tones it was a beautiful sound. She turned and smiled at their followers, "If you would follow me." she said as she started walking through a small open corridor that lead to the restricted section in the front of the temple.

"I wouldn't be so joking about a god or goddess if I were you." she said in all seriousness. "You never know when they might decide to smite you." She had been raised to be grateful to the gods for her gifts. She wasn't too keen on someone even making the slightest joke about Apollo since he had been the one to give them to her. She had even almost been chosen to be an Oracle but she could never give her life to that. She needed to be able to be out in the world to use her gifts.

"Its not much different." she said addressing Leandros in a kinder voice, "Its just like all the other temples pretty much I would think." She furrowed her brow at hearing them talk about her and her brother like that. Didn't they know that she was standing right in front of them. They quickly reached the front of the temple and Adonia took her place motioning them to be beside her.

As every one sat, Demitriss took the stage. A half length golden colored toga and golden arm bands glittering in the faint sunlight left. He truly looked like Apollo come to Earth. Or at least that's what every one had told him time and time again.

He wasn't vain enough to believe them how ever. He only dressed like this to pay homage to his God. He wanted Apollo to know that he used his gifts for His honor. Not the honor of Demitriss, not the honor of the High Priest, whom thought himself above all other mortals, but for the honor of Apollo.

He didn't see the crowed, he was focused on the statue of Apollo on the wall in front of him. He started to strum the beginning chords of his new song he wrote. After he gained his confidence he began in earnest.

His lyre in his hands, was a silver piece, the chords along with his hands almost a blur as he played the complex melody. As if Apollo wanted to encourage the boy, a single ray of sunlight beat down the effects of the clouds and shined through. It's power illuminating only the boy before them.

His voice, clear and entrancing began,

Come from every corner,

See the Eternal Light,

Fading only with the Moon and her children of the Night.

Apollo calls,

His sons and daughters come,

To watch the setting of the sun.

And as he sets,

His chariot will wait,

Until the morn,

Sunrise will forever be his fate.

As the last word left his lips the boy bowed. The entire song was only two maybe three minutes long, but as he bowed and left the stage, the beam of sunlight faded with the echos of the song.

Daniel and Emil's past life selves, Chryses and Leandros respectively, went through the opening to the restricted area with Adonia. Leandros felt the need to apologize for Chryses, "I'm sorry about earlier when Chryses and I were fighting, that won't happen again. Y'see, I...I like you, a whole lot. Listen, we'll talk later. Your brother's song is starting".

Chryses held his head in shame, "Surely, though, I can make up for my grievous fault, right? By praying and apologizing to the Gods, I'm sure they might forgive me".

They took their place in the temple by Adonia, Leandros being closer. As they heard the boy singing and playing his lyre, Chryses kept his eye on the singing boy. He smiled softly, wanting that man to be his.

Adonia looked over at Leandros and smiled at him sweetly her eyes saying she accepted his apology. She had taken her seat her eyes on her brother Demitriss now as she spoke to Chryses. "Yes I'm sure they will forgive you, after all we are only mortal." She loved hearing her brother sing. She had only wished she had been given the triple threat like he had as well...but then again her entire life might have been dedicated to the Gods then. It wasn't a life choice she had wanted to make.

Her eyes wavered while her brother began to sing to see Leandros leaning closer to her. She stiffened a little and quickly turned her attention back to Demitriss who had obviously pleased Apollo with his song. She could feel the God's presence in the temple with them as he sang. She also picked up on his referrence to Hecate, goddess of the moon and magic, while he was singing.

Demitriss quickly changed into his own Toga of pure white silk. Wearing the colors of Apollo made him uncomfortable. He wasn't sure the God wouldn't smite him for such a thing. But he did keep the armlets, seeing as he had had them forged for his own use well before he agreed to sing dressed as an Avatar of the God.

Dressed in his usual cloths, Demitriss quickly made his way back to his sister and there new 'friends'. As he reached them he pointed to the door that lead out of the Temple. He had been told he could leave if he wanted after his performance, but the services would be going on for another two hours.

He knew Apollo would forgive him for missing this part of the service, all it was was the High Priest boasting that he himself was blessed by Apollo and had taught Demitriss to sing and play like that.

His face was a mask of happiness at this. He just wanted to be away from the blasphemer.

Chryses nodded, and started praying silently for the forgiveness of Apollo. Maybe, if he showed his devotion to the God, then Demitriss would like him or at least notice him. As soon as he was done, he paid attention to the service that was going on, noticing something strange. The High Priest was just babbling on about himself, missing the entire point of a temple service. He frowned, but kept his mouth shut. It was the best thing he could do.

Leandros smiled at Adonia, staying silent through the ceremony. He wasn't as quick to pick up on the High Priest's blasphemies. In fact, he never did.

Chryses felt he should speak up after Demetriss pointed to the door, "Are we allowed leave as well? Or do we stay with your sister until the entire thing is over?"

Adonia rose from her seat to follow her brother, brushing against Leandros as she went past them, like her brother inviting them to follow along. She hated when the priest began to speak like that. He hadn't ever taught her brother anything to do with his gifts. She knew eventually he would meet his own fate and probably not be the better for it.

She looked at Chryses, "Oh I'm not staying to listen to this." she said now that she was standing next to her brother, "But I am curious as to what you have planned for all of us Demitriss." she knew her brother must of had something up his sleeve otherwise he wouldn't have motioned for all of them at all.

Patience my dear sister He said inside her mind.

Demitriss was known for being able to score things most people wanted. Even the wealthy came to him from time to time to see if he could get his hands on this or that.

Being an Acolyte for Apollo did have some advantages. He was a natural born thief. Apollo along with Hermes, was one of the Gods of thieves.

He motioned for them to follow close to him as he wound his way through the temple goers and outside. Even after leaving the Temple, he didn't stop. He kept going until he came to what seemed to be nothing more than a storage shed or a run down house. Either way, the place looked like a beggar's hideaway.

Demitriss pulled out a key and slipped it into the lock and opened the door.

It was a den of riches, and wines. There was any kind of pleasure the mind could conceive other then drugs, and whores.

Leandros blushed, and followed the siblings. Chryses followed close behind, he looked a bit troubled. Leandros was getting his love pretty easily, or so he thought. He, on the other hand, had to work too hard, and didn't get it despite praying to Aphrodite earlier that day. He whimpered softly, his heart aching heavily.

When they arrived at the cache of goods, Leandros and Chryses grinned. "You've done pretty good for yourself, Demetriss", Chryses said. He was trying to get the attention of the other man, not aware that he might not love him back. He put on his most charming smile to complete his look. Leandros just stared.
