Out on the patio, Brian and Kate and Robert stood battle ready. But nothing seemed to come. "I'm going out there," Brian said finally. "I'm not waiting forever." He accio'd his black cloak and put it around him.
"Be very careful," Robert said.
"I intend to be," Brian replied. He apparated away.
He went towards where he saw the signal generating from and landed a short way away. Then he walked, his wand drawn, towards the edge of his property. He saw a woman kneeling on the ground, performing a ritual that he knew was designed to give her an exact fix on where Khaat and Abbey were. She had a piece of Khaat's clothing, taken from what had been left behind in Hogsmeade. She was using it in her spell. "Accio!" Brian shouted, calling the clothing to him, out of her reach and undoing her ability to finish her spell.
She rose, firing at Brian. Brian managed to move out of the way and to surround himself with a protego spell.
"You cannot stop me from getting the child--the child that should have been MINE!" she shouted bitterly at him.
"Well, its not yours, now is it then?" Brian retored. "Get off my land before I kill you."
She fired a sectumsempra that bounced off of Brian's shielding spell. Brian sent a stupify spell, whicch she easily deflected.
"Why do you want the child?" Brian asked.
"Because he loved ME! Not her!" she said bitterly.
"He didn't ever love anybody," Brian said.
"Liar!" She shrieked. She fired another secturmsempra at Brian, and he dodged it again.
Meanwhile, back at the porch, Robert and Kate were watching wand sparks in the distance. A clear sign Brian was engaging in battle. "Jack!" Robert called.
