Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Should we raise the word limit to a minimum of 100?

Mmm, well that also causes RPs to die quickly, as most of the issues in the RP are used in one topic, but it is a good reply.

And if we do that, i'd ask for a uniform colour, there are people who do that with certain colours which i just can't see on our background to be honest

ah well, i say 50, but you guys decide

I agree, Jess. Sometimes I can write rather long posts, although not necessarily as long as some others really are good at. And then there are other times I do struggle to find the words to write three decent lines. I think sometimes a bit of flexibility is in order. I agree there does need to be a general guideline for a word length, but I really would prefer something about 50 words, not 100.

Colours can be difficult when the site colour scheme changes and such. Bold, italics and underlining are good for speech/thoughts though.

I'm with a 50 word minimum. Though more is encouraged. But 50 minimum. Smile

I don't ever bold/italicize/color/underline the things my character is saying, and I don't know that I would remember to. I think the people I am RPing with can take the time to read what I write, and if they don't want to, then they can at least take the time to find the "" that denote speech. I'd like to think the point of writing out long posts is so that people can appreciate your writing, and if I am going to take the time to write you a nice post, it should be within your means to at least read it.

^Mhm, I agree. Some people like to bold/etc. speech/etc. but it's just personal preference really.
Which is totally off-topic as this is meant to be about word limits.

As long as you brought it up, thought, I really, really find the speech written in color sooooo hard to read. i wish we used color for decorative things, like siggys and those sorts of things, and a lot less for speech while posting. I think it is extremely hard to read, and i get frustrated by missing what someone has taken the time to write because i just can't see it against dark backgrounds. is there some way to make some more colors available, like lighter shades that will be more distinctive against the dark background that PA has?

Sorry, it is off topic, but it makes me crazy!!
