"Yes, please," she laughed. "Just don't tell Jess. You do promise to cook for at least the next 6 months for me, right? I am not in the mood to eat anybody else's food whatsoever. " She took a bite of the cheesecake, and it was every bit as delicious as it smelled. "You did this on purpose because you know how much I like it. You sneak." She kissed him. "Thank you. You think of everything. You're wonderful. You know that? And if I'm really lucky, I might talk you into a dance with me? Maybe?"
As she took her next couple of bites of cheesecake, she began to look over the platters of food that the catering help was arranging. She didn't like, at all, how they were cutting, arranging, or placing the garnishes on the platters. She set down the plate of cheesecake and began to correct the garnishes on the plattters to be more appealing, and far more creative and original. One of the helpers seemed to be irked with her and seemed to be content with kale leaves and sprigs of parsley placed rather haphazardly, wherever he could stick them on the platters. Khaat began quickly cuttting tomato roses and other creative garnishes and placing them more appropriately. She heard the helper scoff at her under his breath.
"Hey!" she frowned at him, "That's our name going out on that. It needs to be right. Is there a problem with that? Nothing leaves this kitchen that Rob or I do not approve of. You got that?" "Yes, Ma'am," the helper replied rather sheepishly. She glared at Rob to silently ask him where he dug up these nimrods. She set some knives to work magically cutting garnishes in various fresh vegetables and fruits while she kept an eye on their worthless help--well, she thought they were worthless. She took an angry stab at her cheesecake, intending to assault it completely. Then, as an afterthought, she conjured a scoop of pistachio ice cream on her plate beside the cheesecake. If she was going to have a craving, then she fully intended to indulge in it. At least at the moment. She figured Rob was wondering if she would have room for dinner, and she truly had no idea. But she was enjoying every little bite. But she was also not letting the first platter out of the kitchen until it was gourmet perfect and picture perfect both.
She chose the nimrod who seemed to have the most brain cells that were still functional and she took him and Rob out to where the buffet would be. She rearranged completely how they had decided they would set things up so that it was much more efficient and a lot more tasteful in its design, along with being more practical as well. She conjured flowers and candles and decorated the long buffet table accordingly. She was specific on where things should go in order to look elegant. She glared at Rob, still clearly unhappy. "Please--make sure they get this right. I'm going back to my cheesecake and maybe just a half a cup of french roast. And we'd better make sure they have those platters looking right. I don't think we can leave them alone right now." She slipped back into the kitchen, expecting him to be right on her heels.
She got in front of her plate again, and realized what she'd done. She stopped abruptly and looked up at him. "I'm doing it again, aren't I? Kicking right back into that old workaholic stuff. I'm sorry. Really. " She took his hand. "Old habits die hard. I'm sorry. I'll step back and enjoy my cheesecake, and you take care of this however you want." She kissed him tenderly and lovingly.
