Andrew had never seen this man before, but his Gryffindor housemates said this was the head of the school. Andrew was hoping that he was just like all the other grownup men he'd ever met in his short lifetime. Big and dumb. But when he went into the classroom and saw this guy, he instantly reassessed the situation. This guy was big--well, big in comparison to Andrew's little size--but Andrew saw, for the first time in his life, someone that he knew instantly was not dumb. Far from it. He had no idea how to react to a guy that was both big and smart--really, really smart. He had never had a "magical" experience in his life that he knew of,, but he could actually see the magic radiating off of this man. LIke waves of color. It intimidated him completely. Big and dumb meant Andrew got the crap beat out of him. So what did big and smart mean? Longer beatings? He had no clue. Okay, so today was not going to be the day he would ask him if he could bring his frog to Hogwarts. The only mission Andrew had for today was to survive the class without this guy figuring out he scared the crap out of Andrew. And Andrew as NEVER scared. Ever. Of anything. But this teacher--there was something about him that was very, very different.
Today, all he hoped for was that this man had not been smart enough to see his name on the class roster, nor read his file, nor put two together about how he had gotten to Hogwarts in the first place and then, with a little grace perhaps not kick him out on his ear.
So he took about 3 seconds to find the most remote corner of the classroom, muttered an intimidated "Good morning," to the man, and slunk off to try to slip back into the comfort of what darkness might hide him from him. He took out his text book, his paper and pen, and tried to not look up at the man. So, maybe all that stuff his father said about Andrew being a squib--well, it was usually a line of profanities ended by the term "squib"--maybe that had not been true after all. Maybe there was some magic in Andrew after all. He felt highly confused. LIke he had seen something he did not have permission to view. And if this professor had not liked being, well, violated, even if it had been completely unintentional, then Andrew's time in his class might be seriously limited.
