Remy watched as the students slowly paired themselves, moving like molasses in January. Yes, by all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me… Remy thought to herself as they exchanged a series of glances and smiles and awkward physical interactions. Although this was all very interesting, what with discovering the alliances that already existed between the students and the way they were able to sway the right person to be their partner; all of this was useful information, but Remy would have preferred that it came about in a faster manner.
“Alright then,” Remy said when it seemed that at least some of the students had managed to find themselves someone suitable – though she used that term lightly – to partner with for the class activity, and also as a way to hurry along those that hadn’t yet, “on to the task at hand. Your charms professor has kindly assisted in setting up for today’s lesson, and it will be his handiwork that you are observing as you go through today’s task.”
Remy smirked to herself a bit as she reached the end of this sentence. It was true that Professor Gibbs was responsible for the charm work of creating the scenery for today’s adventure, but it had been Remy’s smooth talking and convenient choice of low-cut attire that had gotten her what she wanted. Creating the likes of what the students were able to walk through would have been impossible with her level of magical ability, but she more than made up for her lack of wandwork with another type of skill, which worked all too well on the bachelor Leroy Gibbs.
“Behind the cabin, but before the Forbidden Forest you will find your task,” Remy began, indicating the direction the students would walk to view what she was speaking of, “It is a living maze, though luckily for you this one is stationary,” the professor added with a grin.
“Throughout the maze, several real suits of armor have been placed by yours truly. But to these have been added several chameleon ghouls. It will be your task to walk through the maze and identify which suits of armor are real and which are merely facades. You will walk through, one pair at a time. Your success or failure to correctly distinguish the demons from the decorations will be evident by the clang of spell hitting metal should you choose incorrectly.”
“So,” Remy said, surveying the students, standing closely in their pairs, “any volunteers to go first?”
((Those of you who do not yet have partners should get them quickly. If your partner does not respond within 48 hours of you requesting them, I suggest trying someone more active.))
