Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Woody slowly walked toward the door of the Care of Magical Creatures classroom. He walked in slowly hopiong he wasnt too late. As he walked in a girl was sitting alone and everyone else was with partners. He walked up to her, hoping she would be his partner. "Umm, excuse me, do you need a partner?" He sat down next to her with a small smile on his face.

Basic Class One - Page 3 Empty Re: Basic Class One

Post by Remy Devaul Mon Apr 19, 2010 4:04 am

Remy watched as the students slowly paired themselves, moving like molasses in January. Yes, by all means, move at a glacial pace. You know how that thrills me… Remy thought to herself as they exchanged a series of glances and smiles and awkward physical interactions. Although this was all very interesting, what with discovering the alliances that already existed between the students and the way they were able to sway the right person to be their partner; all of this was useful information, but Remy would have preferred that it came about in a faster manner.

“Alright then,” Remy said when it seemed that at least some of the students had managed to find themselves someone suitable – though she used that term lightly – to partner with for the class activity, and also as a way to hurry along those that hadn’t yet, “on to the task at hand. Your charms professor has kindly assisted in setting up for today’s lesson, and it will be his handiwork that you are observing as you go through today’s task.”

Remy smirked to herself a bit as she reached the end of this sentence. It was true that Professor Gibbs was responsible for the charm work of creating the scenery for today’s adventure, but it had been Remy’s smooth talking and convenient choice of low-cut attire that had gotten her what she wanted. Creating the likes of what the students were able to walk through would have been impossible with her level of magical ability, but she more than made up for her lack of wandwork with another type of skill, which worked all too well on the bachelor Leroy Gibbs.

“Behind the cabin, but before the Forbidden Forest you will find your task,” Remy began, indicating the direction the students would walk to view what she was speaking of, “It is a living maze, though luckily for you this one is stationary,” the professor added with a grin.

“Throughout the maze, several real suits of armor have been placed by yours truly. But to these have been added several chameleon ghouls. It will be your task to walk through the maze and identify which suits of armor are real and which are merely facades. You will walk through, one pair at a time. Your success or failure to correctly distinguish the demons from the decorations will be evident by the clang of spell hitting metal should you choose incorrectly.”

“So,” Remy said, surveying the students, standing closely in their pairs, “any volunteers to go first?”

((Those of you who do not yet have partners should get them quickly. If your partner does not respond within 48 hours of you requesting them, I suggest trying someone more active.))

Basic Class One - Page 3 Empty Re: Basic Class One

Post by Remy Devaul Mon Apr 19, 2010 2:23 pm

When the young Gryffindor girl spoke up, Remy raised a skeptical eyebrow. The girl didn’t look much older than thirteen, and she read like an open book. The Gryffindor house was known for their bravery, but this little thing looked like a strong wind might blow her over. Her words suggested confidence, but her physical demeanor was anything but.

“If you are confident in your abilities,” Remy said, shrugging. She had nothing to lose by letting the girl make an example of herself. At best, the girl would make it through the maze without doing anything stupid; at worst, Remy would have to suffer the repeated clang of spell against metal for the next five minutes or so. There were worse.

“Go ahead. Though I will warn you, there is a reason this was suggested as a partner activity. It can help to sort out your thoughts with another person,” Remy added as a disclaimer, lest some ill should befall the girl and some other student found a way to run right to the headmaster about it. Not that Remy couldn’t convince Majere to see things her way, but it would take more effort than Remy wanted to expend on such a trivial matter.
