A night out (Varod)

Ash ordered her usual sushi roll and looked over at him. "I'm sorry about that." she said as their food came to them. "Maybe it won't be so bad now that you can come here with me."

Varod sighed and shook his head, taking her hand as he ate, slower than usual.
"It's nothing I can't handle..."
This was a downright lie. He needed help, but he wasn't gonna push his problems on the woman he loved. Never in a million years.
"I'll be fine, really."
It was obvious he was lying.

"You are such a terrible liar Varod." she said looking at him running her hand lovingly across his cheek. "I'll listen to you if you do want to talk about it."

Varod grimaced and began to explain everything with Christy, the psycho Godric, and all the other shit in his life. As he spoke, he cried silently and gripped her hand tighter when it was the most hurtful.

She listened and stayed extremely quiet even though she wanted to say something. She could tell he still cared very deeply for this girl who seemed to have broken his heart and in her mind that made her the rebound girl. She had a hard time dealing with that since she really was developing feelings for him. "Well I hate to say this but you still care a lot for her even possibly still love her." she replied finally after a few moments of silence. "Even if her cousin is psycotic, you still love her and I hope I'm not a rebound for that because I can't take getting my heart broken."

Varod looked around and pulled his chair around next to her and gripped her tight.
"I care about her, I don't love her, not anymore," he told her truthfully. "I love you, you are NOT a rebound. You're very important to me and I love you very much."

"Varod.." she said looking at him, "You at least love her some still or else you wouldn't be talking about her the way you did. Regardless of whether she hurt you. Its the same as living in the past." she continued to say, "You have to let her go. She wasn't meant to be with you and you knew it deep down all along. Besides from what I hear Germany made her Mistress of Magic but she won't actually be able to do anything legally until she finishes school. I'd just let it go if I were you." she said looking at him smiling softly as she placed a hand on his shoulder. "So what if she chose a dream like that over you. From the way it sounds you two were pretty much only in lust with each other anyway."

Varod shook his head.
"No, I LOVED her, I truly did. Not anymore. I shut her out, and I won't fall down that rabbit hole again," he said sadly, then smiled. "I hope I found someone who's actually meant to be with me this time..."
He turned slightly pink as he held her and a tear fell down his cheek.

"Ah down the rabbit hole and back again." She said quietly. And then she broke off into quietly singing. "I am falling down the rabbit hole Come so come with me and float, Into the never ending dream." She stopped and looked at him. "You shouldn't cry because you were Alice in Wonderland and she wasn't. She's in her own wonderland and you should be in yours." she said wiping the tears from his face.

Varod smiled.
"But isn't that a crack haze produced by a crazy grandpa?" he asked grinning, referring to the Mad Hatter. "Oh, and you really can sing. You have to sing more often, my love."
