Valentine’s Day was definitely single’s awareness day and Eli was feeling the brunt of it. He’d gotten a letter from his father instructing him to attend the Ministry Dance just to show that the Krum family were still high on the social ladder or whatever he’d said. Apparently he had to be well dressed, clean shaven and his hair had to at least be tidy. Alright, so Elijah had gotten two out of three but at that was better than none. He wasn’t clean shaven but he was well dressed and his hair was tidier than it had been in a while. He was proud of his outward appearance and didn’t mind flaunting what he had once in awhile but this was ridiculous. He felt like one of those tiny dogs that airheaded Muggles liked to dress up and put in bags.
That night, Elijah had walked into Hogsmeade and used the fireplace in the Hogshead. Thankfully, there weren’t too many people milling around when he appeared in the flames. He knew he was late but he remembered his father telling him something about how being late was fashionable. Elijah didn’t really understand the point but he was late anyway just to inconvenience
everyone.
He’d come dateless though – that was a problem. He knew he had probably made a mistake by showing up without a female on his arm. Eli wasn’t stupid though. Women were attracted by wealth and good looks, it wouldn’t take him long to pick one up. Walking into the main room, Eli saw just how far the Ministry took the event. It was insane, he had to actually choke back laughter it was that cheesy. Then again, people enjoyed this type of stuff – the cheesy romance was hard to avoid. He now understood why he hated the colour pink with a passion. It was really too much for one’s eyes.
He cast his eyes across the room and his eyes fell on Julia who looked as if she was ready to kill someone. Although this wasn’t something anyone could see by just a glance, Elijah knew her well enough to see she was pissed off and not just over trivial things. Someone was obviously going out of their way to irritate her. He couldn’t really grasp why though; she looked beautiful. Her dress hugged her curves expertly and if it wasn’t the fact that she was like a sister that he actually liked, he wouldn’t have been stood there by the door with his jaw on the floor. Well, it wasn’t literally on the floor – that was unbecoming of a Krum. You couldn’t really show any emotion you just had to have a certain amount of sex appeal and enough money to get you by. Apparently that was what made up a Krum.
Eli made his way over to her and he noticed with a smile that she’d picked something that stood out amongst all of the bloody pink. Black was the saving grace amongst all of the pink and red. He caught Julia’s attention and smiled at her. He noticed Elizabeth who he’d seen a few times in the halls but hadn’t spoken to and a girl in his house that looked like a wall feature in that bloody pink dress. Malfoy looked uncomfortable enough. Elijah snickered a little and composed himself as he moved to stand in front of Julia. He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed the back of it, keeping his eyes on her face. He released her hand and smirked at her.
“Ma chérie, you look magnifique!” Eli said, turning on the charm and speaking in a very heavy French accent. He wasn’t being serious but she did look brilliant. He took her hand again and spun her under his arm, fully appreciating Julia which was more than Malfoy was doing. He kissed her cheek and smirked at her before leaning forward to whisper in Julia’s ear. “You rival the little chit, Julia. Don’t let her ruin your night. She’ll get stuck to a wall by a maintenance worker who thinks something has fallen off.” he said, referring to the awful pink dress that looked like it had been made out of one of the tablecloths.
Elijah pulled back and straightened up. He looked over at Scorpius and narrowed his eyes. The boy was being an idiot and should have brushed off the blonde. If need be Eli would take her off of his hands. She wasn’t an eyesore and had a nice figure but the dress had to go and he didn't care where it ended up -- there was only so much pink the Krum heir could take. “Would you mind if I dance with
your date?” Eli asked, putting emphasis on something that Scorpius had clearly missed. “You’re obviously busy.”
