waiting for babies

Jack saw Robert awnser the door , he raised an eye brow when he said he knew he'd be back "really?" he said but brushed it aside "I forgot to give her her hair brush, how did you manage that?" he asked following him into the living room he saw Khaat asleep on the couch and smiled "another sleeping beauty" he said with a sigh "am I safe to be here, Khaat made it quiet clear I was to stay away" he held out the hair brush to him waiting for him to say that he realy should leave again.

"No, no, " Robert smiled. "Just for a second, use your Auror skills. I know you have them. Once an Auror, you never lose those skills. Go peak into Jess's room and use your senses on her. Scan her. Then come back and tell me what you see and feel. Just don't wake her. Don't pay attention to the room. Pay attention to her."

Jack fround as she spoke he had not used his Auror ablilitys for a long time and was not sure f he could still do it, but doing as Robert asked he turned to walk up the stairs slowly and quietly to the door to the room he and Jessica had occupied , slowly he turned the handel he could feel the remnants of something dark in the room but it was fading fast.

Moving to stand beside her he placed her brush down on the beside cabinet then focusing on nothing but her, he concentrated, at first nothing happend and he thought he had lost his skill, but then slowly he sensed it. A streangth and skill that seem to come from inside her coupled with her fear that he sensed strangely now lessened to what he had felt when she first met him. He wanted to reatch out to touch her and brush the stray hair from her face but he stopped himself, he felt a sence of peace in her that he had not felt in along time and he smiled.

Closing the bedroom door he walked back down the stairs to Robert his hand over his mouth hiding the smile he had.

"You're allowed to smile and be happy for the change, Lad," Robert laughed. "Is that more of what you wanted to see? How about a firewhiskey between two dads, and I'll tell you what happened?" Robert got out a bottle of a really excellent brand of firewhiskey and a couple of glasses. Robert didn't believe one could spare expense on certain luxury items--like firewhiskey. So when he bought a bottle, he bought the very best. Strong and silky smooth. He poured a stiff drink into each glass and handed one to Jack. He raised his glass, "To Fatherhood. May we find we are always the fathers that our children need."

Jack looked at him he could not belive she had changed , it was like she was as he rembered before she dispeared , her streagth that he admired had fell in love with was their again , he smiled to Robert as he handed him a glass of fire whisky. Raising his glass he lsughed before downing the firewhisky but gasped as he looked at Robert "wow thats good stuff" he said feeling it go down smooth yet heating his chest "now will you tell me how she... " he smiled again "how she is back?" where the only words he could think of to decribe her and how he felt she was to him.

He sat down on the couch lening slightly forward on his knees as he waited for Robert to explain "I sensed the remnants of a dark force in the room , but it was fading disapating fast, she had her streagth back , her skill it was as if i was feeling her again as she was when we first met" he said recalling how he felt.

"Her kidnapper traced her energy signature here. I knew the only way to get her to stop being afraid was if she thought she had to protect herself and those babies. So, I made a breech in the protective field around the house and hid myself in Jess's room where she could not see me. I knew any child from Albus's line could well take care of herself, but I was not going to let her face her fear without backup. Trust me, Jack, I would never have let him harm a hair on her head. But she rose up and fired at him on her own and destroyed him. I was never needed. That courage she always had inside came forth when she felt that she and her babies were threatened. She is much, much better. And--this dramatically improves the odds of a safe pregnancy and delivery for her. Incidently, yes, she is speaking to me." He laughed. "I think she is very grateful to be back to her old self too. He had her trapped in a fear spell. Her destruction of him stopped the spell so she could return to herself."

Jack sat listening chuckling when he said she was still talking to him "oow just wait she'll keep this in mind " he said grinning on hearing him say it gratly improved her chances of a safe pregnacy he sighed relaxing against th back of the couch "thats good "he said "but will she ned to stay here with you till there born , because I think it would be best " he looked at him "call me a worried father but twins for any mother is stress full on her body and she is so big" he took another swig of his whiskly feeling it bit the back of his throat once more he smiled.

He looked at Robert now thankful he had been there "I can not deny I am a little annoyed at you letting him close to her but if it needed to happen then i am glad you were there with her I heard good thngs about you when i was An Auror, they said you were the best in your feild. " he said sluting him with his glass and grinning.

"Trust me, she was never in any danger. As far as I am concerned, he was a little twerp that had learned to be pretty good at a fear spell and was looking to feel powerful. He was just a little bitty pain in the arse, actually. She may come to see that, but if she does, I would expect it might make her a trifle ticked. And, yes, she is perfectly welcome to stay as long as she needs to."

Jack smiled then laughed as he called the man behind Jessica,s fear a twirp and a pain in the arse. "it must have been a pretty strong spell she was... is strong willed "he said looking towards him "do you think thats why he kept her for so long , to brake her will?" he asked watching him he had losts of questions he needed he felt awnsering so that he could relax more around her. He knew to be come less protective he needed these awnsering ether by Robert of Jessica but her he would not press.

Finishing his drink he sat thinking about th day he had met jessica and smiled at how clumsy he had been and stumbled into her at the school as he was assinged to it, the feling he ahd got from her that day he sensed in the woman up stairs and in bed asleep , who carried his children inside her.

"As I said," Robert said, "I think he became very good at that one spell. I don't think he had much else in his magical arsenal. I don't think her will was broken. I think he just re-applied the spell over and over, in order to compound her fear in layers. It is quite clear to me that he did not break her will in the least. He just made her overly fearful. And now that the excessive fear is gone, she's going to go back to herself again. As it should be."
