With killing curses flying in every direction, Amelia shouldn’t have hesitated to follow Khaat’s instructions. But among all the chaos, Amelia’s mind took a few minutes to catch up, by which time Elijah had arrived and was now working to protect her while she was still in her daze. Amelia was a skilled witch, but she knew when she was in over her head. After ducking beneath the shield that Elijah had thrown in front of her to block the cloaked figure’s spell, Amelia crouched lower to t he ground to avoid the bevy of incantations being flung at chest level.
Working her way through the entrance hall, Amelia made her way back to the doors of the Great Hall and pulled open the doors to find that most of the students were still milling around like chickens with their heads cut off. Many were crawling over tables, others pulling back their classmates to be first to the door. Amelia couldn’t help but shake her head at how the commraderie that usually seemed to exist between her classmates had completely disappeared in only a matter of seconds.
This is why I don’t like people, Amelia thought, raising her wand to her throat and muttering “Sonorous.”
“Attention all students,” Amelia’s said in a slow, calm voice, which was magnified by the spell, “Stop acting like idiots.” Her bluntness caught the attention of most of the students, and most of the chaos was brought to a halt as she made her way over to the door which Professor Potter had made.
“Please exit with some semblance of order, or I will be forced to do something to calm you down,” Amelia warned, standing near the door and beginning to usher those closest to the exit out the door into the snow outside.
