Some very odd incidents were happening at the class. Vincent first observed Mariana's attempt to transform the sickle. "A relatively successful attempt," he drawled. "Sometimes, overuse of magic will make the object you transmutated rather hot to touch. Nevertheless, 5 points to Hufflepuff."

He went over to Albus now. Though he was a Slytherin, the boy was also a Potter, a family Vincent had no love for. "Brilliant Potter, clearly you have just as much talent as the rest of your family, which is quite little," he said in a low voice. It was good that his father wasn't alive to see what failures his children had become. "Try again, take another coin."

Danny again focused on the coin and tried to 'imagine' what it would look like if it were gold. He nearly gave himself a headache trying to shape the form of the sickle. Yet he felt nothing still. Maybe you had to relax to do this or something. Danny then held the sickle between his index finger and his thumb and relaxed. He then thought about the form of the coin to change shape. He felt more stupid doing it like this but hopefully it would work. For a moment, Danny felt something warm between the fingers he held the sickle with. Quickly, Danny kept onto that thought and tried harder. Finally, he felt a burning sensation between his fingers which caused him to drop it in pain. He opened his eyes to see the Sickle had transformed to gold, yet in 5 seconds turned back to silver again with an odd metal scraping soung. This is harder than I thought it would be... he thought disdainly

((Like Amelia, I was late to apply for classes, so I'll just pretend I was there from the start ))

Roxanne copied everything that the teacher said down. She wasn't sure about Alchemy yet, it could be useful, but she had expected more than turning sickles into precious gold coins. After copying everything down, she stood up and took a sickle from the teachers desk. She did as the teacher told, closing her eyes and concentrating on creating it into gold. She opened her eyes after a while, and was not exactly surprised to see it hadn't changed at all.

She decided to try again, studying the sickle more this time. She memorized its shape, then closed her eyes and concentrated on it transforming into gold. She closed her palm and willed it to turn into gold. Then opening her palm, she saw a perfect gold coin in her hand. She smiled, delighted with her success.

Although it had been more difficult this time because of the commotion of the room, Amelia had finally regained her focus and slipped back into the silence of her own mind. The sickle once again floated in front of her mind's eye, this time coming into clearer focus because it was the second time around. The distractions were easier to brush away now that she knew her goal was within reach, and soon the sickle in her mind was changing from silver to gold. She was careful this time not to rush the process, making sure each molecule had individually turned before she moved onto the next.

After a painstakingly slow process, Amelia turned the former sickle over in her mind's eye, checking from each angle to see that she had been thorough. Instead of opening her eyes immediately as she had the last time, Amelia allowed herself to slip slowly from her solitude and back into the classroom. Once there, she opened her eyes and slowly pulled her fingers back from the bit of metal which she had been holding tightly in her fingers. Although her skin was white from holding onto it so fiercely, Amelia was able to ignore that for the color the metal had turned. Even after a few seconds, Amelia’s eyes did not deceive her: the sickle had turned to pure gold.

Success! Amelia thought to herself, a genuine but small smile rising on her features as she turned the gold over in her hand, examining her own handiwork. To be honest, she hadn’t expected success after the first attempt had gone wrong, but she was definitely pleased that she had tried again.

Danny had a better chance now since he had a good grip on how to change the sickle now. Apprently if you focused too much or too little, the spell would fail. So he had to find the right amount of concentration before it turned over. He held the sickle once more in his fingertips and got a general picture of it. He imagined the sickle turning into gold and having an ice feel to it. Hopefully this would work. After about 20 minutes, Danny felt the burning sensation again and this time finally got the right grip of concentration. After a few moments, he dropped the coin again becuase it had grown icy cold. He had done it. The sickle had turned into gold yet had a bone chilling touch to it. Well better than nothing.

Mariana's hand was burning for the second time today.Not literally burning only it was hot.She grabbed her wand. "Episqio." she said as her hand returned to its normal temperature. "I don't think it's always going to be so simple Professor.Apart from the sideeffects i mean there's got to be some tricky part." she said as she started packing her notes.

Albus took another coin, ignoring the professors comments. He was good at that, rarely did Albus resort to responding to insults against him. Still, it was rather surprising, teachers didn't usually do that. Albus tried once again, focusing on the essence of the coin, and willing it to change to gold. He closed his eyes again, then when he opened them he had a gold coin in his hadn. He smiled at his success.

Scorpius nodded as the teacher told him how to do it correctly. Scorpius really didn't care for this much, he never really had too much need for money. Still, shrugging, he decided to try again. Closing his eyes he concentrated on the essence of the coin and imagined it turning to gold. He watched as slowly, the coin began to change in his palm, slowly becoming gold.

All the class seemed to be getting it now, at last. Amelia seemed to have perfected the art, as she took her second coin and was able to turn it into gold. "5 more points to Ravenclaw, 10 to Slytherin, 5 to gryffindor and 5 to Hufflepuff," he awarded.

"So then, now that nearly all of you have been sucessful in your attempts to turn the coin into gold, we may conclude class.

But first, what we learnt today. Remember, every object has been created by the same hand, and therefore Alchemists can make objects change to a different form in a single second. The process of Transmutation isn't difficult, all one needs is no distractions, to focus intently on the object, and force it to change. With practice, and with understanding, you will soon be able to master Transmutation. Transmutation could be useful in many ways, but its primary use is of course, to gain riches.

Next lesson, we will move into spiritual alchemy, which is focused more on the soul and is far more important than transmutation. Anyways, good job everyone. Your homework will be assigned later today. Class dismissed."
