This is a list of all the basic spells. These are all taken from the books or the movies. Everyone can use these spells.
Spells are divided into charms, enchantments, dueling spells, curses, hexes and jinxes. There is also Transfiguration, which is mainly nonverbal.
Magical potential determines how well you can use a spell, the better your magical potential, the stronger the spell. As these are basic spells, they can be blocked easily with a simple shield charm. Basic charms are basically spells that can help with everyday stuff.
In roleplay, you do not need to voice the spells, as everyone can do nonverbal spells. You do however, need to know the limits of spells that you can use, and understand what you can do with some spells, and what you can't. In dueling however, you should pronounce every single spell you use, even if it is nonverbal it should be in italics.
Though anyone can use these spells, a graduate can use them to better effect than a 1st year student. For example A year 1 student can use wingardium leviosa to levitate a pot or book, while a graduate can levitate a tree.
BASIC DUELING SPELLS
Dueling spells does not mean that you can only use these spells in a duel. These are just specifically made to be used in duels.
Everte Statum
Sends an opponent flying backwards.
Expelliarmus
Disarms the opponent
Impedimenta (basic level)
Slows down and/or pushes back the victim.
Incarcerous
Ties the opponent in ropes
Levicorpus
Makes opponent float and dangle upside down. Reversed by Liberacorpus
Protego (basic level)
Blocks a SINGLE spell from hitting you. Cannot block all spells, requires good timing. The shield lasts for a couple seconds.
Stupefy (basic level)
Stuns the victim for a short while - 5 to 10 minutes
Petrificus Totalus (basic level)
Petrifies the victim for a short while - 10-20 minutes
BASIC HEXES AND JINXES
Jinxes are hexes are spells you use on people to do a negative effect. Basic level hexes and jinxes are basically spells that you would use to prank others etc.
Babbling Curse
Makes the victim Babble.
Conjunctivus
Makes unbearable pain in the eyes of the victim
Densuago
Makes the victims teeth grow at an alarming rate.
Jelly Legs
Makes the victim unable to walk properly
Hair thickening charm
Makes hair grow rapidly
Furnunculus
Covers victims with boils.
Rictusempra
Makes the victim feel a tickling sensation
Slug vomiting curse
Makes the victim vomit slugs
Tarantallegra
Makes the victim dance uncontrollably
Trip Jinx
Makes the victim trip and fall
CHARMS AND ENCHANTMENTS
This is a list of useful charms. Only useful ones though, I'm not gonna list them all, for now at least. There are too many. Check Wikipedia for a full list, but be mindful of what you can use and what you can't at basic level.
Accio (basic level)
Summons a SINGLE object towards you. Limit: Nothing heavier or larger than a broomstick. Max distance is about 50-100 meters.
Aguamenti (basic level)
Creates water. Limit: amount of water cannot be more than a gallon.
Alohomora
Unlocks doors. Some locks are magically enchanted so that this does not work.
Bluebell flames
is a charm which produces fire. These special flames are bright blue in colour and do not cause the damage of normal fire; surfaces it comes in contact with are not affected. These flames can be scooped up in the hand and carried around, or put in a jar. This suggests that the flames do not need fuel or oxygen, but they still expell heat and light.
Engorgio and Reducio (basic level)
Makes an object, or creature, increase size or decrease in size. Does not work on humans, large objects and large creatures (your not gonna be reducing the size of dragons for example)
Episkey (basic level)
Heals cuts and bruises. Only minor ones.
Expecto Patronum (basic level)
A spell that creates a guardian that is formed by the casters most innermost feelings. LIMIT: Expecto Patronum is considered a *good* spell, and therefore many Death Eaters are unable to use it.
Incendio (basic level)
A spell that creates fire. The fire can be controlled by the caster. Limit: creates a small amount of fire.
Lumos and Nox
Creates light / extuingishes it. Limit: The light is like a little flashlight.
Reparo (basic)
Repairs objects. Limit: Not big objects like houses, buildings. Stuff like a chair, book, etc.
Reducto (basic)
Damages/ blows up/ breaks an object. Does not work on any creature. Limit: nothing more than a desk/ chair. You can't blow up a whole building or a tree with this spell.
Wingardium Leviosa (basic level)
Levitate a SINGLE object for a short period of time. Limit: No trees or buildings. Only small objects.
TRANSFIGURATION
Verto - Switching Charm (basic level)
This makes one object into a different object. Limit: It has to be roughly the same size. For example, you cant switch a book into a tree. Also, you can't use this on anythin bigger than a book.
Conjuring (basic level)
Conjuring means creating an object out of thin air. Limit: You cannot create life, food, memories, knowledge (books, etc) or things you do not know how to create. Also, you can't make big objects, nothing bigger than a book.
Vanishing/ Evanesko (basic level)
Vanishing doesn't mean make invisible, it means getting rid of something completely, like it just dissapears. Limit: You can't vanish anything which is living. You can't vanish big objects.
