Quidditch by Moonlight ((Elijah))

Ruby's hands were starting to numb and she nodded reluctantly. 'I guess I am a bit cold.' She said, getting out her wand and casting a spell to make it glow. 'Lumos.'

She shuddered and tried not to think about how dark the rest of the castle was. The dark was her biggest phobia but noone knew that and she didn't tell anyone. Now, though, in the middle of a ghostly Quidditch Stadium way past the witching hour, she was finding it a bit difficult to pretend otherwise.

Ruby giggled when she heard what Elijah said, imagining the house elves's expressions if two students turned up at the kitchens demanding to stay the night. Fish shivered in her arms and she looked down at him worriedly. Well, he was looking bit cold.

'Okay, I guess we gotta get back to the castle.' She said reluctantly. The truth was, she was dreading the journey back, and the consequent climb to the Gryffindor tower. No teachers or prefects would be around at this time so the whole place would probably be terrifying

Elijah nodded and looked up at the castle, his eyes scanning the little turrets and towers lining the walls. He counted the windows on the south side and pointed to a tower on the next wall.

"There's the Gryffindor tower." he said softly. "Just over there. You won't have to go through the castle the long way."

Elijah glanced at Ruby and turned so he was facing her. He cupped his hands together and blew into them before rubbing them together. Elijah put his hands on her cheeks and smiled. She was freezing cold, or at least her cheeks were. Elijah lifted his hand away from her face and brushed some of her hair away from her eyes.

"You are freezing." he chuckled. "You know you didn't dress appropriately right? Come on, let's get you and Fish back before the sun rises.."

Ruby nodded gratefully and held her wand up so that she could see the tower he was pointing at. She hoped noone was awake, it would look strange if she flew in through the window carrying a cat and blue with cold. Who knows what people might think.

Ruby scowled when she heard what he said next. 'Well, sorry for dressing comfortably.' She said. She didn't think it would be this cold, and her outfit was perfect for flying, in her opinion.

Suddenly, she remembered something. Smiling slightly, she reached her hand into Elijah's pocket and pulled out her broom. Then, she got off the broom she had been riding and shrunk it before putting it in his pocket. She made her broom go back to it's original size and grinned. 'Tonight was fun. I'd love to do it again sometime.'

Elijah watched Ruby's facial features change as he insulted what she was wearing and he chuckled.
"Very true but perhaps it wasn't the right weather for shorts, Mademoiselle. Donagher." he smirked, tugging on the strange piece of material.

She swapped the brooms over and climbed onto her own newly resized one and Elijah took the one she had been using out of his pocket again. He curled his fingers around her wrist and turned her hand upwards. Elijah placed the shrunk broom in her hand and closed her fingers around it.

"A present," he said quietly, his energy was wavering and all he wanted to do was go to the Room of Requirement, paint a while and then flake out on a bed which would catch him before he hit the floor in exhaustion. "As a thank you for joining me in this chilly game of Quidditch tonight. Perhaps it's the morning but I don't know.. what I do know is that for me, classes are out of option tomorrow. C'mon, I'll fly you up to the tower in case the Nargles throw you off of your broom."

Ruby froze and looked down at the broom he had put in her hand. 'No. It's fine, I have my own broom.' She shook her head and gave it back, refusing to accept it. It was a beautiful broom, and the fastest she had ever rode, but her pride could not allow her to accept such a valuble gift. She had accepted Fish, but the broom was a different matter.

Ruby saw that Elijah was tired and was surprised that he still offered to fly her back. 'Are you sure? It would look very suspicious if you dropped me off at the dorms. Who knows what stupid assumptions people might make.' She said, smiling a little. The girls in her dorm loved to gossip, and if anyone of them saw her alone it would be bad enough, let alone with a boy.

Elijah wanted Ruby to have the broom but he relented and put it back in his pocket. He glanced up at the tower and smirked. He knew she was worried about scandel and it was an issue at Hogwarts because everyone was in everyone elses business.

However, the young artist loved to cause a stir no matter where he was. Gossip never bothered him and if it was any good he enjoyed making it all seem far more rediculous and far fetched than it actually was.

"If you think they're stupid then why let them bother you? As much as I love making gossip sound worse than it actually is, they're just silly people with mundane lives. I mean, it can't get much more exciting than flying around with the son of them most arrogant a-hole in the world can it?" Elijah grinned. "Get yourself moving Miss, it's getting mighty chilly now."

Ruby smirked and flew up, one hand holding the broom and the other clutching Fish. 'I'm going, I'm going! Are you that keen to get rid of me?' She asked, looking over her shoulder and pouting slightly. Elijah was right, it was getting colder. They would probably wake up with Pnuemonia in the morning.

Ruby shivered again and headed for the tower window. She unlocked it with her wand and flew in. Unmounting the broom, she turned back and stuck her head out and blew a kiss at Elijah. 'Night.'

Elijah watched her go and frowned at her teasing, pretending to be hurt. He didn't want her to go at all, it was just too cold and if the bludger-cat was getting cold then it was high time for the humans to go inside.

Elijah was mentally going over the layout of his bedroom. He knew there was a bottle of Saint Amour under his bed as well as some sheets of new canvas and oil paints but he was to tired to bask in the gentle flavours which was that bottle of French Red Wine. Elijah flew closer to the window and frowned when she just blew him a kiss.

Elijah sat himself on the windowsill and decided to speak in a low tone. He wouldn't wake up the other girls, they looked dead to the world.

"Don't blow kisses to me if you're not gonna' kiss me properly." he pouted. "It's quite rude, leading a man on like that."

He smirked and raised an eyebrow at her, he was going to get the window slammed in his face for being cocky and he knew it. Then again, he hadn't climbed (or flown) up to girl's windows before so this was all fairly new to him.

Ruby smirked and ducked her head back in. 'Well, I wasn't aware that I was leading a man on. I'll keep that in mind, next time.' She grinned mischieviously and added 'Now, goodnight.' Before slamming the window shut and relocking it.

Ruby changed into her pyjamas and got into bed, clutching Fish tightly. She felt a bit bad about teasing Elijah. After all, she didn't have any intention of kissing him properly and hoped he didn't want her to.

She smiled as she fell asleep, dreaming of moonlit quidditch games and confused kittens.

Elijah chuckled and the window was slammed just as he knew it would. Elijah yawned and stretched and after feeling the satisfactory click of his joints, Elijah began to fly towards the hillside. Elijah took his wand out of his pocket and threw a few spells at the basket which transfigured itself into a tent.

Elijah landed on the hillside and walked inside the tent. It was not Muggle but magical with everything a house would have inside it and more. Elijah stretched again and pulled his t-shirt off and threw it onto one of the beds. He was shattered and wasn't to bothered about waking up late to classes, he just wasn't interested in going all the way back to the Slytherin dungeons for four hours or so.

Elijah pulled his shoes off and threw them onto the bed with the shirt and instantly regretted doing it when mud smeared onto it. Elijah cursed under his breath but he didn't want to deal with it now.

Elijah collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep, knowing that he'd probably be woken up by some curious first years in the morning. So, burrowing his head into the pillow, Elijah pulled the covers up to his head and remained in that sleep for however long the eleven-year olds would allow him to.
