Amelia was pleased to hear the teacher praise her answer, even though that was not the reason she had provided the answer. She felt obligated as a prefect to perform well in class and earn points for her house, but she did not like to seem show-offish or like a know-it-all. Smiling lightly to herself, Amelia returned her attention to the book which was open in front of her, making notations in the margins to remind her of certain facts later on.
When the teacher posed another question, she mentally answered it to herself. Having already spoken up in class, she felt other students may want the chance to answer to earn points for his or her own house. Her mother had always told her that no one likes the person who hogs the spotlight, so she kept her answer to herself and expected to wait a few moments for another student to speak up.
She was surprised, however, to find that the same Gryffindor boy who had spoken earlier had taken control of the answering process and provided the teacher with a response before another student could answer.
Apparently he has no qualms about dominating the class... Amelia thought to herself, not necessarily peeved by the boy but rather wondering why he made such a spectacle of himself in class. This was not the first class she had noticed him in, and he seemed to have a similar strategy in his other courses. Without looking up, she noted his answer on a piece of parchment and waited for the teacher to once again inform him that he had given the correct answer.
