Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Ability Desired: Wandless Magic
How your character got this ability: Like most branches of advanced magic, wandless magic is very difficult to master, one must first have a very intelligent head on their shoulders. Not only is it essential, it also cuts down the time it takes to learn. One must also be willing to dedicate large portions of their days to nothing but studying, a requirement which fazes many but not Nicholas. He is not a genius, Nick had to go through the same processes as many who wish to further themselves in the wizarding world. A lot of hard work and heartache went into mastering an ability seemingly only attainable by the best.

There were a few individual aspects of Wandless magic Nicholas studied, starting first with the subject itself. What is wandless magic? It doesn’t take a genius to give a reasonable explanation on what it actually is. Nicholas came up with an answer right away, describing it as “The ability to perform, direct and control magical incantations, without the use of a focus.” a focus of course being a wand. A good explanation, Nicholas then went about breaking up his explanation, coming up with three key features of wandless magic, these being, Perform, Direct, Control. Now with the easier stuff out of the way he set about acquiring large tomes and other texts on the subject.

Through reading and personal experience Nicholas knew that all wizards are capable of performing wandless magic, either when they are frightened or in danger. Sometimes events happen that they cannot explain, these events tended to happen during childhood, when children knew little of magic and the focuses they needed. Effectively there were no limitations on magic until the ministry bestowed obstacles upon them. So everyone could perform and direct wandless spells, interesting indeed but the real obstacle which faced anyone wanting too learn the art was the ability to control their spells. Young children performed erratic magic at anyone who threatened them, Nicholas needed to learn control and discipline, that was all, because as we have already discussed, everyone already has the ability to perform magic without a wand….

Now the thing about discipline is that you either have it or you don’t. You can teach yourself but it is a long process and Nicholas was not one for meditation and what not. Already believing himself to be a disciplined person he ploughed on with the studying, performing slow hand movements relating to certain types of spells, then making them faster and more fluid at the same time. The exercises are similar to those you perform when learning guitar. Exercise that improve the strength and speed in your fingers, only with these exercises you were working your wrist, your arm and your mind. Eventually given time and constant practise you should be able to perform simple charms and protective spells, this was the same for Nicholas. The snag he hit was casting powerful charms and dark magic. If you made the slightest wrong move when performing a simple levitating charm for example, the chair you were levitating simply went up lopsided, or shook violently as it rose. If you messed up a cruciatus curse, which Nick did, the caster could find themselves seriously incapacitated. Nicholas’s spell backfired and cast upon himself, he was unable to lift it for ten minutes and when he did manage too his body remained aching for days.

Eventually though he learned from his mistakes and is now a master in the art of wandless magic. It would have been easy to have given up, with the amount of times he messed things up but as a raging narcissist he would have rather died than suffered the humiliation of defeat….

[This ability was already approved by Darren through PM’s. It was originally designed to be 1000 words long but Darren said 100-200 was fine. I opted for 600 odd as there was a lot to write about, thank you and good day Smile]

Ability Desired: Non-verbal Magic
How your character got this ability: Stellovet stuided hard in her third year at Hogwarts and achieved this ability.

Ability Desired: Telekenesis
How your character got this ability: Stellovet inherited this ability from her father, and realized she had it when one day she was trying to get a drink. She accidentally dropped a glass of milk, being how clumsy she is. When she dropped the glass, she automatically reached for it. Instead of dropping and shattering to the ground, the glass hovered and rose into the air about eye-level. She then discovered that day that she had inherited Telekenesis from her father, and was so excited!

Fine if Darren said so Nick.
Non-verbal magic accepted and if you want Telekenesis you'll have to write much bigger detailed explenation,
