"Better a scorched sleeve than a scorched arm," Angus said. "Well done, Evan. Do you feel like a pro yet?"
"No," Evan said, "but its still one of the best things I've ever done. Edward once said a man needed to stand for something. Now I know what that feels like, to really stand for something. And I understand why its so important for all of you. Not sure I'd want my girls doing it, but this matters. All this that we do--it matters."
"Yes. It does," Angus said. He had his sights set on going home and then Aria mentioned going to see either Robert or Jess. He rolled his eyes at Aria's saying they needed to put a delay in going home. He knew, really, that she was right. He watched Yu take Evan home. Marcus fell into the stride beside Michael, Aria and Angus as they went up to Robert's office.
When they got there, Robert seemed to be arguing with someone.
"Has he got someone in there?" Angus asked. "We should just go home."
"Nah. Its just Beulah. It's fine," Michael said, opening the door. Angus looked in and didn't see anyone.
"Let go of my sleeve before I turn you into a wastebasket, you old tin can," Robert scowled, "and I'll fill you up with smelly, nasty, used muggle coffee pods.
"Who are you talking to?" Marcus asked. Michael went around Marcus and picked up Robert's tea kettle that was growling and tugging hard on Robert's jacket sleeve.
"I told you. Beulah," Michael said, showing them the ill tempered teapot. "He's irked her somehow, and she's not feeling like letting him go until he apologizes. Beaulah, be a good girl and let him go. Angus here needs his attentions for a moment. You should be nice to Angus. He's the man who buys you that polish that you like so much. Be a good lass now and turn Robert loose, would you? I'll get you some good black tea to brew tomorrow." The pot let Robert go, and Michael set Beulah back on the hearth.
"Give him a quick check, would you?" Michael asked. "One of Tom's boys knocked him around a bit and put his lights out for a little."
"They got the drop on you, did they?" Robert asked Angus motioning to him to come sit.
"I'll get them next time," Angus said.
"We got them for you. And I chucked the bubbles at those big gorillas and at Tom. I guarantee they're going to live a lot quieter for several days," Marcus said. Robert looked at Marcus, and by the look in Marcus's eyes, he understood what Marcus meant. That made Robert laugh. He gave Angus a quick check. "They worked you over pretty good. You're going to have a lot of bruises, and some aches and pains for a day or so but you've certainly had a lot worse. Do try to get a couple licks of your own in next time, won't you? You are very seriously sleep deprived though now. You need a night's sleep."
"Yeah. I'll get there later," Angus said.
"It's getting late. Make it soon," Robert told him. "Take him home, get him a dose of pain potion and then let him get a little sleep. I don't see any concussion or broken bones, but he's going to be well bruised in the morning. We won't be far behind you. I think we're pretty knackered too."
